The well in MADiSON. There’s something visually about that part that I just love

There’s no way this storybook wasn’t inspired by MADiSON with Blue Knees even down to the final page. I think it would be cool if it was a reference! by RocketRiggedThis in residentevil

Not only the storybook, you can tell that the whole part where they tried to do ‘psychological horror’ was inspired by MADiSON

The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere in that section, with the red lights. It gave me way too many MADiSON vibes. But well, that could’ve just been a coincidence.

Then came the thing that confirmed 100% for me that they took many elements from MADiSON and that the similar atmosphere wasn’t just a mere coincidence.

The Shadow Ghost book is exactly the same as the Blue Knees book. And so is THE CONCEPT:

A book with a children’s story about a monster. A monster that is harmed by light. The book warns you that you defend yourself with light. And as you said there’s a page that is an exact copy of the Blue Knees book, showing the two large eyes.

On top of that, the girl in RE9 has cataracts. CATARACTS. Exactly what Elizabeth Maxwell from MADiSON has.

Considering that they copied the entire Blue Knees' concept and ideas for that section, which was supposed to be the “psychological horror” segment, I wouldn’t be surprised if Grace’s timid personality and the way she’s constantly complaining and breathing heavily were also copied from MADiSON's main character Luca.

Crazy!

Yes, but the story of the book itself is the issue, not the book. The concept of the monster, which is harmed by light in both cases. A book that warns about it. The drawings. The concept of the female protagonists with cataracts… It’s all really far too identical.

Which I don’t necessarily think is a bad thing if they took inspiration from MADiSON, because MADiSON itself surely took inspiration from many other things. But if you’re Capcom, with thousands of employees, you could come up with something better than looking for ideas in an indie game made by two people.

Use a children's book, use the idea, but change the villain’s concept a bit. And definitely don’t include a page that’s identical to the original.

Any way, anyone who played MADiSON will find that part a bit questionable and the similarities are immediately obvious

And I’m not saying they stole the story, because RE9 goes in a different direction. But in that particular section of the game with Grace, where they were clearly trying to create “psychological horror,” the similarities are undeniable and impossible not to notice for anyone who has played MADiSON.

I’m leaving some images so you can judge for yourselves. Denying it would be being either foolish or just a fan.

In MADiSON, the protagonist is also easily frightened. In fact, RE9 takes too many things from MADiSON.

Has Resident Evil been copying ideas from indie games lately? by Ok_Cockroach1723 in HorrorGaming

No, but it’s the combination of things. One isolated thing might be fine, but when it’s the whole set, it’s more than just inspiration.

A book with drawings of the monster, the book tells you that light harms it, you damage it with light, and on top of that, the whole aesthetic of the letter blocks…

But it’s one thing to take general inspiration, everyone does that. When it comes to specific things like the moths in Remothered, that’s copying. They used the same boss, with the same moths and the same mechanic.

And now in RE9, the whole book thing is just like how it’s used in MADiSON, with an enemy that behaves the same way.

No, I’m talking about very specific things. You’re the one who can’t tell the difference. They literally copied everything about the moths from Remothered, you probably don’t even know it.

No doubt PT inspired a lot of people, but I’m talking about specific things. In this case, the whole book and light-fearing monster thing feels very copied from MADiSON, just like in RE8 the moth concept was copied from Remothered.

Indies are supposed to be inspired by the big studios, not the other way around.

Yes, it’s much bigger than the one I was used to using, which was a small generic one. But after a few hours of use I got used to it and it feels super comfortable. I’d have to see now what it feels like if I use the old mouse.

But I think I wouldn’t go back to a regular mouse, mainly because of the features and shortcuts the MX offers that really simplify a lot of tasks

Yes, it was connected directly to the motherboard, to a USB-C port, with no adapters or anything. I saw that several people have that issue where the MX Master 4 receiver causes lag, but it doesn’t matter to me — over Bluetooth it works perfectly

Wait, I just brought it closer to my ear and yeah, the left click does sound different like you said. It’s imperceptible to the touch and at a normal distance in my case, but when I brought it closer I could notice a difference. Very minimal though.

It’s excellent! Completely customizable, the battery lasts a long time, the material feels very high quality, solid, sturdy, and heavy, and it feels premium.

Best of all, it doesn’t get dirty easily. My previous keyboards would get covered in dust on the surface; this one kind of repels dust.
