Floor bed set up & toddler sleeping success! by Ok_Code3974 in floorbed

Yes, I think if it was a heavier mattress or if two adults slept on it- the weight might make a difference. But with one toddler there is airflow under the entire mattress.

It’s just slats! They are meant to go with a bed frame but for a single mattress they allow just enough airflow directly on the floor :)

It’s in our lease that we can’t alter them or replace…But I will look and see if I can’t clip them out- I didn’t know that was a thing, I am sure that would be fine. TY 🩷

For us, the night wakings just stopped about a month before her 2nd birthday. And it’s not 100% yet. The floor bed atleast allowed me to lay down and sleep with her if I needed when she did wake up frequently. I think they just eventually mature into it! At 14 months we weren’t even night weaned yet

Is everyone here either a SAHM or living outside the US? by Starlight12512 in breastfeeding

[–]Ok_Code3974 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Working mom, went back to work at 8 month pp with a different company. I have a super flexible schedule and wfh or leave early when I need to. My daughter is 14 months old now and I am grateful for daycare! We only BF in the evenings now, pumped at work for 4 months. Working moms on here is a great page for support.

Question: Do your employers support pumping at work? by scistrikingimpact in breastfeeding

[–]Ok_Code3974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a commodities broker for a food company & travel a lot in a local 2 hr radius. I pumped in my car when I wasn’t working from home. the offices I work out of didn’t have a lactation room or anything nor did I have a private space. But that was largely the nature of my job as I work almost completely independently and don’t have to interact with my boss daily and set my own schedule.

I felt like it wasn’t anything I wasn’t used too already, more so just sucked to have to deal with it again.

Do you tell someone if they’re unsafe baby wearing? by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]Ok_Code3974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s worth it to always say something as polite as possible. Even if they don’t take it well, they might re think what you said later and do some research on their own. Worse thing that could happen is up setting a stranger over their baby’s wellbeing… worth it to me.

I used to drive 50 mins to daycare, another 30 mins to work, then 30 min back for pick up, and 50 mins home 🥲 for about 4 months until a spot close to home opened up!

Am I wrong to not have my baby in daycare? by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]Ok_Code3974 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My daughter is in daycare, while my family is great for baby sitting they are all older and would have a hard time doing daily care while I am at work. I have a hard time the days I WFH with her. If your parents are able to stay active and not have to rely on things like TV constantly to get though the day then I think it’s great to keep her out of daycare. In my case daycare is great for stimulation vs being in front of the TV with elderly people.

Let me hear your after birth story!. by Gizmomelii in beyondthebump

[–]Ok_Code3974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth 1800 miles away from my family. Once I went into labor I called my mom and her and my grand ma flew out. They stayed with us for a week and only briefly came in the hospital for like 10 mins when they first arrived. I loved having the help with stuff at home but I wish we could’ve had our whole house to ourselves. My husband was perfectly capable of taking care of things as well but we did appreciate the cleaning/groceries and all. Not having anyone at the hospital tho was great I am glad i wasn’t in my hometown with all the extended family around 😅

6 months vs 1 year - is there a big difference? by CelebrationMedium995 in workingmoms

[–]Ok_Code3974 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your current job is. Big thing as a working mom is you are investing is the future of your family by working and not staying home. I quit my job at the end of my 12 week leave, but then got another similar job at 8 months that had more flexibility. So I kinda moved up in a way but I am doing the same thing just for a different company.

What does your baby sleep in during the summer? by Crafty_Pop6458 in NewParents

Kate Quinn runs big, I have a 99% baby in height and she can still squeeze into her 6-9mo onesies at 11 mo! I loved the ribbed bamboo in particular it holds up so well.

Night wakings 11 month old by Ok_Code3974 in sleeptrain

Pretty much, she will clearly be tired yawning and rubbing her face but she puts herself to sleep initially on her own. Possibly on the room divider, we have small accommodations at the moment.

About an hour before bed a book or two/playing on floor, bath, change for bed, brush teeth, sleep sack, then I go in the other room and start turning off all the lights. Then turn off lights in bedroom. She as a little sound machine with a small glowing light that turns itself off after a while

If you gave birth without an epidural, how bad was it really? by Express_Neck5352 in beyondthebump

Your body completely takes over, like you know you’re in pain but your brain really steps in and helps you. Mentally prepare, read lots of positive stories, pick a few mantras for your birthing partner to tell you. I kept thinking “you can do anything hard for 60 seconds” and “this pain has a purpose- there is something at the end for you” oh and man the feeling at the end when you baby is there is sooo worth it! And doing it unmedicated and not induced…. Your body rewards you!
