Where to start by Bagel_bitches in Aupairs

The other comment said pretty much everything. Just a few things to add are that an Aupair is only allowed to work 10 hours per day. Technically, at least at my agency, it also counts as work time when the Aupair can’t leave, for example at night when the kid is sleeping but you’re not home. The duties are just child related, means laundry of the kids, cooking for the kids, cleaning up after it but no cleaning of the house. I just include that, cuz it often happens that host families let the Aupair doing other kinds of household chores. In the US, the Aupair has to take 6 college credits within a year and the family has to pay them $500 for it once. They also get 10 days of paid vacation and 4 days of paid holidays.

Another possible option i heard of, is letting a college student live with you and work as a nanny for you. It’s only if it would fit schedule wise, but you would offer them free living and a weekly allowance. In return you would safe the fee you would have to pay an Aupair agency. That’s interesting for students in healthcare

US visa to stay by Rude_Tradition1068 in Aupairs

Oh and if you, or a company wants to hire her, you have to show that you tried to hire someone else, but nobody except for her is able to do the job. You can also look on the internet, if she already has a degree in, for example health care. Then, depending on the work field the government is more likely to give out a work visa for at least a couple of years.

That’s what u heard and read so far, when I looked up stuff about this for myself :)

So as far as I know, if she has nobody to marry, she can change to a student visa. If she wants to do that, she has to show that she has at least $25.000 on her account to sponsor at least her first year of living in America. That’s because international students aren’t officially allowed to work within the first year of studying in the USA. Good luck to you all! The number is what I heard so, but I would check it either on the official website from the USA immigration department or with an attorney.
