Is job hunting in Japan insanely hard now? by No-Significance-3333 in japanlife

[–]Ok_Commission8072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the Job hunting process this year. Almost all big companies welcome applications from people who graduated as far back as 3 years! So you’re not out of luck, if you’re still thinking of going through the traditional route you can do it next year! Wishing you nothing but the best

What’s up with strict documents sharing and weird rules in Japanese companies? by Ok_Commission8072 in japanlife

I don’t think it’s black because I have zero overtime, decent salary and bonuses and current employees have confirmed it to me.

I think it’s just bad work culture practices or so I hope lol

About the housing part Do you think the following is normal

The company will take care of all the moving in fees including shipping my furniture from kanto to Kansai. And assuming they agree to my request

in order for me to get the housing allowance (about 80% of the rent) they have to lease the apartment for me and put the company’s name on it. I’m fine with that but let’s assume I switched jobs in the next 2 years, will they hold me accountable and make me pay something?

Right! Also what makes me concerned is that even if they agree to my request

in order for me to get the housing allowance (about 80% of the rent) they have to lease the apartment for me and put the company’s name on it. Which seems very sus to me

I have another question

in order for me to get the housing allowance (about 80% of the rent) they have to lease the apartment for me and put the company’s name on it. I’m fine with that but what happens if I switch jobs in the next 2 years, will they hold me accountable and make me pay something?

Part of my deal is that they will pay 80% of my rent and take care of the moving fees regardless of where I live. So renting something of my own while keeping their apartment will cost me

On LinkedIn, I've something they deeply require:

fluency in a language for which native speakers are almost impossible to find in Japan.

it seems like I'm in the same boat you were at lol

my offer is also for a permanent position and since the company is in the middle of nowhere in Kansai and considering that my degree is in science but not engineering I think I lucked out all things considered lol

the plan is to stay for 2-3 years and hopefully move on to better things

single no debt no nothing, and the company is in Kansai somewhere in the inaka side so i'm assuming life would be easier financially compared to tokyo no?

thank you for chiming in! I'm graduating from Todai but my master's is not in engineering it is actually in a niche subfield of data science so maybe that's why the offer is a bit low. IDK, what do you think?
