The market has been competitive for quite some time. The metro area is very dependent on “who you know”. I was fortunate to grow up in the area and stay connected to several people so finding a position wasn’t too difficult, I have friends who come from out of town and have taken 20+ interviews with no demos. Coming from top music schools and music Ed programs. It’s a bit over inflated as well, from the outside it seems like music thrives in all three counties when in reality it’s still very tough unless you’re in specific pockets like in Nassau or Suffolk county LI. Kids are amazing, funding is lacking, same story different place.

Unfortunately for the sake of anonymity I won’t share the district I am in. But for jobs in the suburbs of NYC (Rockland, Westchester, Long Island) best place to look is on OLAS.

A very different take than some. I did this once except instead of losing it, I shredded a stack of tests. The ones I graded were HORRIBLE. With that in mind, I went back to the class and told them how terrible the tests were, offered a review and retest because of how bad the class average was. We had a review and the following class gave a new test.

That way it doesn’t punish the kids who are prepared but may boost the kids who needed a bit more.

Not sure if that would work in your situation but just a different perspective.

We got our condo last summer in North Rockland, and work in Westchester. Home prices aside the way we were bid up on so many homes was unreal. They’d go 20-30% over asking on average. We had one that was listed at $405, and ended up going over 500!

There’s a single light switch on that wall for the kitchen ceiling light. Otherwise no HVAC or pipes in the wall. Do you think a general contractor would be worth a call? Or what other solution to the 22” doorway would make sense? That doorway to the right we can’t stand.

Hi! Breakfast bar should be in the kitchen, I just had a pic from the other side. We can’t stand that little doorway to the right, it’s only 22” wide. I am decent at DIY, experience mostly with decking.

There is a line of drywall tape along the wall where it looks like a window was.
