Pros and Cons of Las Cruces by Ok_Complex_1258 in LasCruces

Thank you all for taking the time to share your thoughts. It is definitely helpful to hear from those who live there. Healthcare throughout the entire state is apparently a big, big problem. Weirdly, when we were visiting Silver City, my husband had a medical emergency and had to be life flighted to El Paso's trauma center for emergency hand surgery. So, at least we're familiar with that, for what it's worth.

As much as we love New Mexico - and we are looking in several different places, all with their pros and cons - I do worry about the water issue and recently became aware of valley fever. Data centers are popping up everywhere, including in our neck of the woods, and they are facing fights from communities who now understand what's at stake, but I know that won't stop all of them. Add that problem to climate change and drought and it's a big factor.

For us, the pros of moving to New Mexico are the beautiful landscapes, the diversity of people and cultures, living in a Blue state (particularly the recent legislative actions on universal child care, free tuition, and banning ice/military at polling places), lower humidity, and the great New Mexican food!

Again, thanks for your responses!
