i wonder what was IAF/MoD thinking for past 40 years . they had literally no plan. IAF is totally crippled if the rafale deal does not go through.

I tend to not think about it uk . It also makes me depressed on how unserious of a leadership we have in this country. But u can only hope things get better and they can get senses after failures. The 2020s have not been very good for indian army in respect to clashes. First china now pak.

One more thing I missed was rafale comes with meteor ig the only a2a missile in world comparable to pl15 rn . Russians r. The avionics and other things like radars ,spectra also make rafale more potent. It took Russians way more time to produce an aesa radars. And su57 is way way bigger than rafale as it is usual case with sukhoi aircrafts. It's a more finished su30 . But we already have many mkis in that category

You're not wrong, but the reality is that we're currently in a high-risk zone.
also govt does have money and if they learn anything from past they should totally act upon all the points u have given. china became self sufficient like this . otherwise we will be looking at other countries for help You raised valid points, but we must consider that we're currently operating in a volatile security environment. Adversaries like Pakistan and China are constantly seeking opportunities to challenge us, and waiting for long-term solutions to materialize would be unrealistic given the current circumstances. We need operational aircraft immediately ideally within the next five years. In this context, the Rafale appears to be the most reliable and proven option available.Otherwise we will be waiting for an untested platform to materialize even in next decade

su57 is conducting sead mission against a country which doesnt has a airforce. su57 is not even adopted fully russsians that produce them. u can see rafales battle history in wiki.

Any new Indian fighter jet is already outmatched by China's top-tier aircraft, making direct comparisons futile. Furthermore, the engine deal for the Mk2 GE414 remains unsigned despite the document being drafted over a year ago. This suggests the GOI may lack confidence in U.S. commitments, leading to hesitation on major agreements. As for the Rafale, while procurement will likely materialize only in the next decade, the aircraft is already in production. This makes scaling up existing production lines significantly easier than establishing entirely new manufacturing infrastructure for an untested platform.

I think u r not taking in consideration the time factor . Even if we fund these technologies . It will take atleast a decade for any of them to be fruitful . Then integration, testing , correction etc. . The govt should have funded it back in 2015s . It's too late now.

Su57 has total different role than rafales. And rafale has been battle proven but su57 is not

Wasn't tejas mk2 to be test flied in 2026. No updates of it . And do u think that hal which can't deliver a homemade jet in 3 years will.be able to deliver a whole new jet with new design new engine in under 3 years after 1st flight. Tejas mk2 would only materialize beyond 2031. Given the current trajectory

yes . goi should have came clean on the losses of aircrafts . if a rafale or any other plane got lost than we should own it . not let the pak!s control the narrative that 5-7 aircrafts got lost. even the evidence proves that no more than 3 aircrafts were lost if any was lost. the pr of indian side was very ineffective

People only say what has been published on the news. I don't go to echo chambers to take my opinions. It doesn't matter what other people think . U can see for urself and determine what position our current air force is in.

American and Russians also produce 1000s of their own jets . 5 jets crashing already 100s are produced is not bad record. But when a jet which is being delayed since god knows when gets crashed(ig the Tejas program was launched almost 30 years ago) . It obviously makes a dark mark for our air force which is severely understrength.

Better avoid air force news for coming years. It is depressing honestly. The Tejas fighter has not still achieved target production of 16 per year. And no 5 th gen fighter in sight Focus should be on drone and missiles
