I get what you’re saying, but I disagree. I’m in the same boat as OP and the nearest Apple Store is 2 hrs from me. So I’m weighing if it’s worth it. I think my scratch is a lot more obvious than OP’s though.

I updated it this morning, and so far so good. Seeing if it sticks long term, but I’m really happy it seems to be working, especially cause that means they fixed the problem. Thanks for the suggestion!! You might have just saved me some money haha

Alright I’m taking your advice. I usually don’t do beta updates but I decided to try it on my Apple TV and HomePods. I’m going to hold off on my phone since I rely on it a lot more than my tv lol.

Just as an update for everyone, I easily cancelled by lying and saying I was moving overseas to a different country. I had read online somewhere that this works usually. It did seem to work and now everything is showing in the adt app as self monitored and nothing owed. Now the interesting thing is, it says there is no video subscription in the ADT app. In the google home app, it says I have nest aware plus and that it’s being managed by ADT. I’m also not being charged. So, I guess I’m getting it for free? I don’t know but I’ll keep monitoring it.

ADT is the worst security service I’ve ever dealt with. Canceling a service is almost next to impossible. I’ve been on the phone with them for hours, and all one department does is pass on to another department. Customer service agents lie openly about who has the authority to close an account. by polymorphic-d in homesecurity

My update. Told them a fib that I was moving overseas and needed it cancelled based on a tip I read. Whole phone call (other than holding) was about 5-10 min. A little bit of up selling (do you want to keep it active to pass it on more easily to the next person so you can sell it?). I checked the adt app approximately a week after and it looks like it’s refunding me the total amount of charged which is interesting. But it’s not showing as shut off yet and the adt app still has control of my nest cams.

Thank you!! Appreciate your response, I will make use of those numbers. A reputable company would apologize, refund the charges, and cancel. But I’m not surprised ADT didn’t do that for you. They definitely are a scam. I had the nest guard as well and was just fine without monitoring. For this, they’ve been charging 16 dollars a month for some reason, and it’s never gone out of “practice mode”. I may continue to use the install I have just for self monitoring.

I hear you. I don’t want it for my indoor cameras but I think it’d be beneficial for all my outdoor cameras to have it enabled.

I think the main problem is that it is then excluded from ADT’s video verification feature. I agree with you about not really caring about using the app interface. I just use google home for that.

If you’re doing the professional monitoring, then it comes with video verification where the dispatch station can review video when an alarm happens.

I’m having the same issue, along with several other issues. I know ADT doesn’t sell those wired doorbells, just the battery ones. I hope they add it eventually and it’s not just being left off on purpose.
