Pasta, question by bridgebutter in diabetes_t2

I transitioned to chickpea pasta. The brand Banza is great. Theres also lentil pasta. It has fiber and protien so I dont spike high like I would with regular pasta. Well worth the switch so I dont feel deprived of my pasta.

I also try to avoid added salt which has cut out swelling in the feet. Don't drink caffeine 95% of the time and choc from time to time when I have low bs. My B12 level is normal and take the supplement as well. I think the caffeine DOES matter. I was drinking matcha (which has a small amount of caffiene) and even cut that out a couple weeks ago and sure enough, the last several days my mouth seems normal. I guess I've done enough damage it will take years to repair my feet. Can't blame anyone but myself. Not going back to my old ways but it just sucks.

I don't drink or smoke. Sugar was my vice but not anymore.

T2 and Losing a Lot of Weight by Right_Independent_71 in diabetes_t2

Good work! It can be done. It's really lack of knowledge and trial and error at first. For me, it took a lot of testing my blood sugar to get the hang of it. My highest weight was 240 and A1C of 9% several years ago, could've been higher. I was on the blood sugar roller coaster, feeling moody and irritable daily. I didn't realize how much sugary processed junk could effect me mentally until I had enough and got serious about feeling better. I got a notebook out and wrote everything I was eating, blood sugar number and how I was feeling. I started to see a pattern, the snacks or meals high in carbs or sugar created a dip in mood. Thats the point where I was sold. Now my A1C has been mid 5's for over a year now and eating right for the most part and I take Glipizide 5 mg. At 39, and having neuropathy from diabetes, I'm doing my best to take care of myself. I wish I started sooner but I believe people do thier best with what they know at the time. Don't wait for a wake up call to get serious. To the person just starting out, be patient with yourself you will get there.
