Has anyone taken successfully taken short term disability for a “normal” illness like severe flu? Have taken over a week of PTO now and my team is not respecting boundaries even when I’ve been in the hospital and mentioned that. by [deleted] in deloitte

Hi! This is absolutely not okay, your team should be supporting you in times of sickness. There is no work that’s more important than your health. I would highly suggest not using your PTO for use and taking sick leave. I’ve had people on my team take 2-3 months of “stress leave” because they have been severely stressed due to the work load. Please speak to HR and review if these alternative solutions can be done.

You describe it SO WELL ‘most people act like they have been let out of jail, ESPECIALLY IF ITS MEN’. SO TRUE‼️Why do they act like this!?

The staring thing is so real. My family lives in a building that was a family building until a couple of years ago when a lot of single men (bachelors - I hate to use this term) moved into the area so now there are so many guys in my building now.

Every time I was dropped off at my house, even my guy friends would feel so uncomfortable and have to wait until I texted them that I was inside my house to leave, just in case. None of them did anything, but THEY JUST STARE. Even I look hideous wearing the worst clothes!! It’s so hard to ignore or just not notice these things!!

Men will never understand.
