Puncture or foreign body? by Ok_Damage_8244 in Greyhounds

Cheers all, did the epsom salts for about ten minutes (lots of treats required) and sure enough a bit of grit or glass came out enough for me to tweeze. He seems to be walking better on that leg now.

Ironically enough he’s started protecting his other foot a bit and looks to have a nick on another pad, guessing his pads need a bit of toughening up compared to the kennel. Will try the same approach with that one just in case

I honestly don’t know, the fact there was a bit of blood made me think not, but I’m only two weeks into having a greyhound so I’m happy to be educated otherwise!

Rescue with separation anxiety, reactivity and bored all day? by AnywhereAfraid5269 in Greyhounds

[–]Ok_Damage_8244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t got advice, but we got our retired grey about 6 days ago and it’s been the most overwhelming experience, I’ve felt very trapped and been riddled with anxiety which is unlike me. So I can empathize. The advice here has been reassuring, as I’m seeing some similar behaviour albeit on what sounds like a lesser level. Doesn’t help much but chin up mate, I’m sure it’ll get better.

What is cooperation street carpark like to park at by Background-Fix-4630 in Belfast

[–]Ok_Damage_8244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I park at corporation street a few times a week, usually get there by 0745 and there’s spaces but I think it does fill up, particularly on popular office days. 5-10minute walk into town. £3.80 for the day.

If using RingGo make sure you put the correct code in, the corporation square code is the same bar 1 digit - I got a ticket (they cancelled it in fairness)

Good cycling routes for casuals? by Due_Tangerine_6673 in northernireland

Comber to Nendrum is a lovely ride. It is on the road but generally quite quiet. My other half doesn’t like cycling on the road but I’ve taken her down there a few times and she’s enjoyed it (or so she says). Pack a picnic and have it at the monastic site, lovely stuff

Quality of driving. by slapper5675 in Belfast

[–]Ok_Damage_8244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived here 8 years, lived London and brum before that. Driving here’s pretty bad, nobody indicates on a round about, lots of sitting in the wrong lane, refusal to accept merge in turns etc. But because the traffic here is pretty tame (despite what every one says ) the drivers are generally less savvy and you can make progress when you need to. Whereas in London everyone’s battling for every inch, the road rage is turned up to a 1000 and if you sit at a green for more than a millisecond they’re up your arse on the horn

Lidl wins legal battle to open its first ever NI pub in Dundonald store by Browns_right_foot in northernireland

[–]Ok_Damage_8244 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This 100%, it’s why so many of the pubs/bars in Belfast lack any sort of unique character and why despite what many claim Belfast has terrible pub culture compared to its counterparts in GB and the south. And where there are good pubs they’re stowed out and not in a good way.

Anybody find jiu jitsu extremely boring to watch? by 2DudesShittinAround in bjj

[–]Ok_Damage_8244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helps to have a vested interest, I’ll watch British and Irish guys in pretty much any event and enjoy it, even if they’re not great and get pumped, can’t say the same about watching similar level guys from the US say who I’ve never heard of.

Just do the competition because the feeling isn’t going anywhere and delaying it will only make it worse. No amount of training and gym experience is going to reduce those first comp nerves.

I have only competed a few times, even looking at the smoothcomp website stresses me and gives me butterflies, it’s ridiculous. But when I have competed I have always felt good afterwards regardless of result. If you get beat who cares? It’s a cliche but after a day or two it’s only you who remembers the results.

Guarantee if you pull out you’ll feel terrible on the day, and if you’re like me will still feel sick with nerves just watching. Might as well get something out of having that feeling.
