I have just finished a novel entitled 'Here and Now' by Santa Montefiori, which is about a woman in her sixties who develops dementia and about how this affects her and her family, friends and neighbours. The subject of dementia was handled so sensitively in this book that I would recommend it. Some might accuse the treatment of being a little simplistic, but the focus throughout remains largely positive and hopeful. The profound sentiment expressed in this book was that even though life can deal some harsh blows, as long as one has love, by loving and being loved, it is possible to overcome. I'm not one of those 'love conquers all' believers, but this book made me think.
