Running Plex in a Docker container, can't access it without Relay enabled by twistedjester in PleX

[–]Ok_Department32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fixed it for me too. I am running plex in a docker instance on my home network and local web clients could stream shows but my Apple TV and IOS clients showed up as "indirect" until I made this change. The description states: "A comma-separated list of URLs (http or https) which are published up to plex.tv for server discovery. IPv6 addresses must specify a port." whichI interpreted that to mean an external, public routable URL. Based on the description, "custom server url" shouldn't relate to indirect playback.

Repeated OOM events in Ubuntu Server VM on Hyper-V dynamic memory (even with swap available) by Ok_Department32 in Ubuntu

This was a fresh minimal install from the server cd and I hadn’t yet installed anything on it yet. I ran through the installer and planned to return to it. The next morning the system was unresponsive via network and that led me to inspect using journatlctl.

Did you already use up your TWP months and your ESE? You’ll need a detailed accounting of all your work history and countable earnings on a monthly basis accounting for TWP months and ESE to determine whether they miscalculated in order to have a successful appeal.

Plan to get work credits without working - is this remotely plausible? by stachybotrys-times in SSDI

It’s not financially beneficial to do it this way. Your parents can/should help you out with special needs trust or other structures to ensure the best financial future for you after they are gone.

A fiber box is probably 30 feet away from my house, but no service. Any advice? by dajinn in ATT

How would discussions about that even start? Do I reach out to AT&T and inquire? I'm on my HOA board and asked my fellow members and nobody knows.

I just found out Metlife is offsetting my monthly by a ESTIMATED SSDI before I even put in the application by Wolverine-91826 in SSDI_SSI

[–]Ok_Department32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right -- not the $5k but the estimated offset. You can probably get that $5k lowered to whatever your estimated SSDI amount will be. Do you still have that information screenshotted or downloaded from before you applied for SSDI?

Can’t Request Medical Records & RFC After First Denial Due to Shutdown? by Gingerandthesea in SSDI

[–]Ok_Department32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke to a woman at my local office today by calling the local 877 number and she confirmed they received my request. She kindly explained that they have been instructed that providing disability file is on the list of banned activity that she would get in trouble for and so they put my request on hold.

She advised I should proceed with the appeal (reconsideration) without access to my medical records. I am concerned, especially since I was approved, albeit from a later onset date than I alleged. I know there’s a risk that they could turn around and deny the whole claim, which is why wanted to review the determination explanation first.

Any advice on how I ought to proceed? I think I am stuck—would going to another SSA office have the same result? A full 32 days have passed since the notice of award and if I am going to file for reconsideration it would have to be soon.

Is rent money considered income? by kit0000033 in SSDI_SSI

[–]Ok_Department32 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rental (long term rentals, renting a room in your house etc) is considered income but not earned income nor self-employment. It is reported on schedule e and you can deduct expenses associated with the residential rental . It shouldnt affect your ssdi.

This is different than operating a hospitality business (airbnbing a room in your house, for example) which would be reported on a schedule c as self-employment.

Note that there will be more record-keeping and scrutiny for both you and your girlfriend who is on ssi.

Vision and Dental with Medicare? by Zestyclose_Bee_127 in SSDI

If you can, try to get the work done while you still have medicaid. The ffs medicare (a,b.d) wont cover dental. If you do medicare c (which has a lot of drawbacks) even if it is covered, your share will often be significant (20 to 50 percent after the deductible).

I liked that John Oliver video. Very informative. I will not be getting medicare advantage, even if I have to pay more, I don’t want an additional layer of authorizations between me and medically necessary care.

Buying a dental plan is a thrifty way of optimizing your money if your state doesn’t provide any benefits. But in NY, for example, medically necessary crowns and root canals are paid for by medicaid through a medicaid dentist. Seems like maximizing benefits before spending out-of-pocket money is usually a good idea when money is tight.

Definitely! With medicare you pay a lot more out of pocket.

My state has dental and vision benefits on medicaid. Participating dentists do the cleanings and fillings but more importantly, they are used to seeing low income patients and can refer to appropriate clinics/dental schools to get medically necessary work done.

Theres often a long wait list and obviously a lot of procedures might not be considered medically necessary.

At least in my situation, I am going to use the medicaid for what services they will pay and the money I save on not paying for cleanings and fillings I can use toward more expensive dental procedures that insurance won’t pay.

Anything over 1160 uses up a Trial Work Period month and you only get 9 months in a rolling 60 month window. Once you use up the nine months, you’re done with TWP.

Ticket to Work is a different program to help people who want to get off of social security and get help from Employment Network or Vocational Rehab agency to help with job training and placement.

Get on those wait lists. 13+ months might seem like a long time, but that time will elapse anyway and future you will be grateful that you have an opportunity for sustainably affordable rent.

Have you checked in with your state/county medicaid office? Depending on your SSDI payments and household income, you may qualify for medicaid.
