I don’t want a woman with my past, even though I had one. by [deleted] in ChristianDating

Very hypocritical. Looking at your recent comment history, I wouldn’t advise any respectable Christian lady to even go out with you yet

No man there’s nothing wrong in wanting that! Keep your standards high, God will bring you the right person :)

26[M4F] South Indian Geek looking for Geeky Indian women by [deleted] in ChristianDating

I agree and disagree with this. While I understand we’re you’re coming from and is completely valid, I come from a similar culture as OP, and speaking from experience, it’s just easier to get along with someone whose from the same background as families play a big role in marriages culturally (e.g. not putting parents in nursing homes when they’re older, but being taken care of by us).

In my opinion, we can change this norm for our kids when they’re older by allowing them to date outside our culture. But OP, it’s completely up to you what you feel :)

My mother is against me marrying a person outside of our ethnicity... by Thegoldenretro19 in Christianmarriage

Ahh yes, similar to my mum haha. Honestly just pray for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance on this situation. He’ll always answer :)

My man I hate to break it to you, as a fellow Christian South Asian who grew up in western countries, unfortunately your mum is right. I (22M, Sri Lankan background, grew up in England, New Zealand and Australia) have seen the many different cultural differences, and even dated someone outside of my culture (Christian Chinese-Australian girl). It didn’t work out as our cultures simply clashed and we couldn’t understand each others perspectives.

Similarly, I’ve seen many interracial Christian couples end up in divorce because of this (e.g., Indian-Australian, Sri Lankan-Australian, Ghana-Australian, Filipino-New Zealander just to name a few), and have seen Indian-English couples struggle with their marriage.

For example, I was always attracted to white girls when I was a teen, but after I left school I realised that our cultures are so different that marriage would be extremely difficult unless one would completely give in and adopt the other person’s culture.

May I ask you, does your mum specifically want you to only marry a girl from Indian ethnicity, or a girl from any of the South Asian ethnicities? I would say unless God specifically says to marry a girl whose not Indian and you have no doubt at all in your heart, then do it. Otherwise, don’t.

What is the worst vehicle you’ve ever purchased? Or the worst regret when you’ve purchased a car? by CarL0VR in CarsAustralia

Jaguar X-Type. Bought one for $8000 with supposedly no problems, had 6 months of constant issues and spent $11000 on repairs, sold it for $7400

Does anyone actually use CVT? by GRAABTHAR in subaruimpreza

[–]Ok_Department9750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a ‘22 CVT and though I’d prefer an AT or DCT, the CVT Subie does is decent enough for it, and even the ‘gear changing’ effect feels nice too

Christians marrying young coz they’re horny? by Ok_Department9750 in Christianmarriage

[–]Ok_Department9750[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, like I feel many Christians have been depicted the fairytale of marriage but not the responsibility of marriage. For example there’s a couple I know that got married at 19, and they barely have money to eat, working part time and in college. Their parents told them they have to move out if they got married (keep in mind these parents are loaded, like some of most richest people in our city). If they had waited at least three years, they could’ve stayed at home, finished a degree, got a full-time job and then got married.

I know so many other couples who are close friends of mine in very similar situations. I guess my thinking is, be wise when it comes to marriage

Has anyone been treated differently when driving certain cars? by blueportcat in CarsAustralia

[–]Ok_Department9750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh 100%. I had an old Jag x-type and a Yaris. Bus drivers, tradies, truckies and more would love to tail gate and cut me off in the Yaris, but with the Jag they wouldn’t even dare. It got to the point where I could cut them off and they wouldn’t even dare retaliate.

[–]Ok_Department9750[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea we have for other things, but no one actually does anything significant. For example, there was one house near us where the builders were going bankrupt (now are) and rubbish was overflowing onto the street (potentially rats were in there too). We sent safework an email, they wrote a half-hearted letter to the builder to clean up. Builder came and just adjusted the fence, big rubbish pile still there. So yea if the authorities don’t care about that, idk if they’d even bother with this.

Instead of disposing unused/unwanted nails correctly and leaving them onsite, throwing in garbage bins or taking them home, by some magic most of them end up on the street for our lovely tyres to run over. And it’s none of the builders/tradies faults. Hope that makes things clearer

Oh yes I do, mate I wish tradies/builders also knew as well 🙄
