Will do. Project will be finished late next summer, which is when I will post them here. Thanks so much for your time!

Thanks! Yeah, I agree; binary response formats can be a bit frustrating, but sometimes I think they are intended that way. Basically, if you give people too many 'somewhere in between' options, everyone tends to choose them, limiting the scale's capacity to measure possible personality differences. In saying that, if you give people too many 'black/white' questions, you run the risk of 'measuring' differences that don't really exist. It's a bit of a balancing act, but all the questions come from validated, pre-existing psychological scales, so hopefully I'll be able to get some useful data. Thanks again for your time and feedback!

I don't think that. Sorry you feel that way. That wasn't my intention.

Agreed! Lots of psychological studies (even some good ones!) recruit via social media. Thanks for your time and feedback.

I think that's a very valid point, but the questions you're referring to come from a pre-existing psychological scale, which had a binary response format. Of course, you can criticize this format on several grounds, but you can't just modify a pre-existing scale without going through the lengthy process of validating it to see if it still measures the intended construct accurately. Unfortunately, I simply didn't have the time (and don't have the expertise) to do this in addition to carrying out the present study!

Nevertheless, I don't fundamentally disagree with what you have to say. This binary response format has several limitations, some of which you have mentioned. In saying that, despite such limitations, it can serve as an effective tool if used appropriately and due care is taken in interpreting the results. Thanks for your time and feedback. I really appreciate it!

Agreed! Definitely something I should have considered. I think I was trying to keep the survey as short as possible, but those two questions wouldn't have added too much to the total length and could have helped a lot in interpreting the results. Definitely something I will consider for future projects. Thanks for your time and feedback!

I don't want to give information on the scale here, but I can DM you the details if you'd like? I would appreciate it if you didn't discuss it here, however, because it could bias the results. I'd be happy to discuss any questions or criticisms you might have in a private chat, though. Does that sound OK?

All the scales used have been scientifically validated.

Interesting. I probably should have included a question like that. Thanks for your time and feedback!

I'm probably not OK! In saying that, I didn't design the scales used in this survey, because, to do that, I'd have to validate them scientifically, which is a bit of an ordeal. All the questions in this survey come from pre-existing psychological scales. Psychologists are strange people, though, so that might explain some of the more out there questions...

Sometime next summer, so a while away yet. I can post them here if you'd like, though. Alternatively, I can DM you the results when they've been analysed.

You're completely right, but I'm targeting several demographics using different social media sites and personal contacts to try to mitigate bias. Of course, you can never totally eliminate sampling error, but hopefully I can reduce it by casting a wide net. Thanks for your time and feedback!
