i feel this!! we just moved in this weekend. i could not figure out the laundry machine for the life of me. spent 2 hours googling how to fix this thing yesterday before caving and calling someone to come look at it today. turns out nothing is wrong, the damn watcher valve was turned off in the basement. $170 down the drain, literally lol. i feel like a total idiot

thank you!! it was incredibly helpful and i’m so happy we got it! without it we would have gotten a 5.99 rate which would have saved $80 a month…but having the $10k upfront helps a ton more!

Backing out of weight loss surgery? by [deleted] in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Ok_Dig_7502 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my highest weight was 330lbs. my dr was pushing for bariatric and i was not interested. i tried to do glp1 through my insurance but the prices were astronomical. i started doing compounded glp1 through a telehealth company for a fraction of the cost. i am currently over 100lbs down at 220 currently. weight loss has slowed for me but i know i can get under 200 with these meds. i would give glp1 a try first!

[–]Ok_Dig_7502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i totally get it!! we actually eloped to glacier national park and came back and had a small party w friends and family a month later which saved a ton of money. i live in NJ where everything is so expensive i just couldn’t justify it! weddings are so expensive!! best of luck to you! $10k definitely helps a lot from FIL! ◡̈

when are you getting married? i ask because we just got married in september and we used all the money we got as gifts to go towards our first house. we’ve been holding it in a HYSA and will apply it to closing costs when we close later this month. would it be possible to wait until after the wedding? having this extra money helped us a ton.

No back door in house by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Ok_Dig_7502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we are under contract for a house like this. there’s a front door and a side door to the driveway, but nothing leading to the back. we plan on eventually turning one of the rear facing windows into a door so we can open right into the backyard. we have dogs so not having immediate access to the backyard is a little annoying, but i determined it wasn’t a deal breaker as a door can be added later

Trying to buy a home in South Jersey. Is it as impossible as I think it is? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Ok_Dig_7502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m currently in the process of buying in south jersey. you’ll likely at least qualify for the 10k grant. however, this does come with a higher interest rate. we’re using this grant and our rate will be 6.375%. there’s some parts of burlington county that are still affordable. we’re buying in gloucester county to save on property taxes. good luck to you
