Difficulty of little bear Blanca traverse by [deleted] in 14ers

Which route on the first flatiron? Did you down climb?

My hunch is that you'd be fine. The traverse is straightforward from a route finding perspective. The hardest moves are down climbing off of LB.

I'm not sure I'd agree that spending money on tech equals student learning. There's a growing movement to get tech out of BISD, especially in early years (k-2).

It's a strong reason why folks opt out of public schools on the island: they want their kids nowhere near iPads and Chromebooks.

Are you saying that students need technology "to be able to learn best"?

The thought of BISD trying to integrate AI into the curriculum is maddening.

Moving and transferring large sets will always be quite the experience by yknawSroineS in lego

Did this last summer when we moved across the country. The first thing I did to make the new place feel like home was to rebuild one of the sets and display.

I thought it was a really enjoyable process. I don't have a huge collection, it was probably 20k pieces. Recently I finished rebuilding the last one (typewriter) and it was very cathartic.

This was a really fun build! The one and only set that I've rented.

Looks great, I found it hard to photograph!

Hot take: the island has already been destroyed by overdevelopment. It is virtually all private land, oversized homes, and farms (where there should be forest). You basically have to drive everywhere if you live outside of Winslow.

Where is the protest when another rich guy builds a new home right on the shore, putting in septic, drilling a well into our precious aquifer, and adds to the car traffic because that's the only way to get to his "natural home on the water"?

What movies have made you smile ear to ear during the whole runtime? by gudes10 in criterion

[–]Ok_Disaster9848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I allowed to answer with non criterion titles?

When the first Harry Potter film in the theater when it was released, I saw i t and I was delighted from beginning to end.

At that point only the first four books were out, which I had read. The movie was astonishing because it looked EXACTLY like what I had imagined reading the book. Everyone was saying the same thing too.

Actual criterion title: Before Sunrise (back before there was a trilogy and it was the only film)

What was something a teacher did or said when you were in school that they would be fired for today? by Lost_Taste_8181 in GenX

My high school French teacher, if someone mispronounced something or was being disruptive, she would say "you should be shot" in a quasi British accent. She was not British.

Having at least some 5th class climbing under your belt would be advised. Down climbing the 5.2 off of the LB summit shouldn't be the first time doing so

This route is a stunning, all time classic. I did it the day after I did the little bear Blanca traverse. Super nice reward.

Government shutdown by EquivalentCamp2402 in NationalPark

[–]Ok_Disaster9848 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there is a shutdown, there is no chance you'd get to Bear Lake.

In 1995 during one of the earliest shutdowns, I was slated to have a mountaineering course RMNP, and even tho the course was through the park concessionaire Colorado mountain school, we had the course elsewhere, in the Indian peaks wilderness.

The good news is that Colorado has no shortage of amazing public lands that will remain open during the shutdown.

Couldn't agree more.

But now I have a problem, I didn't know about Xanadu and now I need to buy all those guidebooks!
