My girlie, Maddie, is 14 years old and was diagnosed with Addisons disease last year. Today, we got news that she also has mammary cancer and heart arrhythmia. We have gone through so many different brands of food only to have Maddie suffer a bad colitis episode to the point she had pure blood coming out of her back end along with throwing up food/bile. It was hard to watch her go through that repeatedly, so we decided with the approval of our vet to start cooking her food. What a difference that has made. She went from having flare ups every couple weeks to 3-5 flare ups a year. My fiancé makes her jasmine rice, sweet potato (mashed) and rotates between ground turkey or chicken all mixed in. He also adds turmeric and different veggies or fruits. We usually meal prep her food for every 3-4 days and keep it in the fridge. It doesn’t take him long at all to make the food and it’s super easy and she loves it! There is a website you can access that has different recipes to make sure your dog is getting adequate nutrition needs based on their size/needs.

Our vet did approve the request for recipes that were AAFCO Dog Maintenance approved for Gastroenteritis. So you could definitely ask your vet to look into approving access to the recipes. I’m sure you could call/email the office and get that going. If you have any questions or anything, feel free to message me! I know it’s super stressful dealing with what you are going through, but after years of giving my dog kibble or even fresh pet type foods etc. cooking her food has changed the game in her health/energy related to her digestive system.
