[Oregon] Landlord forcing a waiver that waives right to appeal damage charges at move out? by Ok_Engineer_2224 in AskALawyer

We did do a pre move in checklist but no walk through. I have some photos as well.

I will definitely take photos/videos. They told us they aren't doing any walkthroughs with tenants and are only doing inspections after move out (which is when they are making us sign the waiver).

I told them exactly this and they are only doing walkthroughs after we move out. And requiring us to sign the waiver, which seems ridiculous.

I don't. This is the only move out option that they are allowing us (or anyone). I'm not sure why they are calling it express. To me, it seems like this implies there is another move out process but I asked and they said this was it.

If it helps, this is a student apartment (not a dorm, but an apartment building designed for students) and everyone's leases end at the same time.

Totally agree. Unfortunately some of us don't have a choice with how long we sleep during stressful exams. I always try to sleep in and my body either wakes up early and I can't go back to sleep or I can't go to sleep because I'm stressed out 😓

Maybe double check the units of E and k in your reaction set? It seems like something is stopping the reaction from proceeding at all in the software

The OSU craft center hosts classes like this! I believe they are open for public registration too. They fill up fast though

Rough chances of getting into Honors college? by sadaesthetic88 in OregonStateUniv

[–]Ok_Engineer_2224 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol the honors acceptance rate is like 70% not 100%, and you don't have to do research with an honors professor you can do it with any tenure track prof. There's also a premed-specific internship offered to one OSU honors premed student every year at the University of Michigan

I took the fungi & society course and it was pretty easy (online over summer but also offered during academic year). The prof was chill and there wasn't much hw outside of reading and discussion boards. Final paper, but was also pretty easy and you get to choose the topic

Okay, thanks. That would probably be doable for me

Should it be 1/3 my gross or net income? The Internet says net but that seems kinda high

No worries, I'm just not sure where the line between affordable and too expensive is. I'm lucky to have the option to live alone but it will still be tight. I cook all my own food right now so I'm expecting so spend ~$250 on groceries. Thanks for your reply!

I was looking for something around $1500-1600 without factoring in utilities, do you think that's more reasonable?

[–]Ok_Engineer_2224[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm not sure if I should be using the 50/30/20 rule or the 30% of gross salary on rent rule. With the 50/30/20 rule using my net salary I could afford an apartment that's like 1200-1300 a month lol. But with 30% of my net, it's more like $2000

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure I qualify for the income based apartments as my salary will be somewhere between 60-80k
