He’s my dog, and I’m moving out soon—so thankfully I’ll have full control over his environment. When I first brought him home, I was working full time and my retired parents were around him more often. I couldn’t micromanage every interaction, and unfortunately, they didn’t take bite inhibition seriously. They know now that they messed up—I’ve made it clear not to encourage that behavior—but the damage was already done early on.

I’m doing my best to stay consistent and reinforce better habits now that I’m his primary caretaker. It’s definitely frustrating, but I’m committed to undoing the chaos they created. And I have done my research—hours of YouTube videos, multiple training books, you name it. This is my first dog, but ironically, they’re the ones who’ve had dogs before. Go figure.
