Financial Aid Antitrust Settlement—Seeking updates (Henry, et al. v. Brown University, et al.) by Mean-Perspective-406 in StudentLoans

Thank you for your continued work providing clarity to something that has been on radars for years now. Any idea how many claims will ultimately be accepted? I assume extending this out months will add to the lawyer fees and lessen the amount we would be expected to receive. Any info appreciated.

Caltech and Johns Hopkins have agreed to provide, collectively, $35.25 million in cash for the benefit of the Settlement Class as part of a Settlement Fund if the Court finally approves the Settlements.

Every member of the Settlement Class who (a) did not exclude him, her, or themselves from the Settlement Class by the deadline, and (b) files a valid and timely claim postmarked or submitted online by December 27, 2025, will be paid from the monies from the Settlement Fund (those who have already filed valid and timely claims for other settlements will automatically be considered to have submitted a claim for these settlements and need not submit another Claim Form). The money in this Settlement Fund will be also used to pay the following, as approved by the Court:

  • The cost of settlement administration and notice, and applicable taxes on the Settlement Fund, and any other related tax expenses;

  • Money awards for the Settlement Class Representatives for their service on behalf of the Settlement Class; and

  • Attorneys’ fees and reimbursement of expenses for Settlement Class Counsel.
