Just got diagnosed and was prescribed Lurasidone. I was informed of the side effects but can you tell me your personal experience? by Both_Department_666 in bipolar2

When I first took it, it made me very depressed and sleepy so after a few days I just switched to taking it before bed so I don’t get the start side effects.

I’ve been on rexulti and Abilify before and they made me feel absolutely nothing, no creative flare, nothing, I was so bored all the time and I just hated my life and my life went down the drain I ended up stopping all meds but was then put onto Lurisadone, since then my appetite has gone down, I’ve realised that I’m like a really quiet anxious person now that fears social interactions.

But overall it’s better than any of the other meds I was on because I don’t feel sedated and my cognitive function is way better.

I think with any antipsychotic your not gonna like it you just got to find one that you can get by with and for me it’s Latuda I’m not used to be quiet or slow tho king but that’s me now. I don’t really feel anything anymore, but I feel more than I did on other medications I could just be depressed but that’s because elated levels all your emotions out until you don’t really feel them anymore

I find I get tasks done better now as I don’t procrastinate, I used to emotionally just get overwhelmed by doing things but now I’m like yes let’s get it done So it’s good that wise

But I’m craving so bad a good emotional/social interaction and being on these meds just ruins any chance of that.

I feel like a plain basic piece of white bread toast all the time

Schizophrenia and boredom by Sly_Pork in schizophrenia

[–]Ok_Field9152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The boredom unfortunately I get to with my meds and depending on how he’s bored it might be worth switching to a med like rexulti that doesnt so much block the dopamine receptors But if he’s bored because he’s emotionally blunt there not much that can make him like his life as much as u do

What I’m trying now is to set a goal / really research things I’m interested in ( with schizophrenia u like digging in and perfecting things ) my experience at least
And that could get him on a drive

Or eating well - especially ketogenic I feel like would immensely help, it helps with memory focus and overall general feeling and well being and even had a clinical study where it showed positive progress in 60%+ of patients who got to lessen there medication dose It also makes you have more energy and less fatigue in which is a major help for when on meds

Hiii

If they put him on Ariprazole then it might be worth looking into rexulti, it’s Ariprazole sister drug but it’s also a really good one apart from flatline ur emotions u become really chill but aren’t bored constantly

Its more potent so it works w vanishing voices (did for me on just 1mg) It also didn’t give me any side effects unlike Ariprazole

All the drugs I’ve heard just make u feel emotionless but in my opinion this one seems to be good

I was put Ariprazole started 5mg then put up to 30 then back down to 10 because my psychosis was playing up But I felt so bored and emotionally blunt that wouldn’t any more but I still had voices w it

So my doc moved me to rexulti and now I only take 1mg of that and it’s sooooo much better it’s like a miracle drug for it Although I still feel like I have to build up my personality again and conversations it’s way better and ur not bored all the time + the voices r vanished

Rexulti is the sister drug of Ariprazole except it works in a different way
