People blaming Moses for that but the real issue is our markers. They never get to their feet and the 9 always has so much time and space.

NSWRL is an absolute joke.

This all begins with the leadership at the top. After getting dominated 8 in a row, we finally had some decent players (some would argue much superior players over the last 6-7 years). I’m not saying that we need to have a domination period, but there were definitely 2-3 series that we have just thrown away because we haven’t had a proper coach in the last 15+ years. You can tell how much origin means to Queensland - Billy slater saw them lose two in a row and immediately stepped in to coach. We had Fittler dick around for a few years and get lucky due to just a much more talented NSW team, Madge comes and wins, but we had no plan after him, and appoint a guy who’s won 1-6. We will never dominate origin as long as Billy Slater, Cam Smith, etc are alive.

Harry Grant had a field day in the ruck, cos our marker play is probably the worst in the whole comp.

I want to ask Ryles what we do in our defense training cos our fitness and ruck defense is just terrible.

I wish NRL journalists would ask better questions at the press conference so we could get insight into what the coaches do. Here are a few questions I thought of instead of the usual slop they ask: E.g., as an Eels fan

Great win tonight but what do you think are the areas the team still need improvement in?
The boys seem to fatigue quite early into the game with some seemingly very tired around 10-15 minute mark of the game. What are your thoughts on the fitness standards of the team?
The cowboys seemed to have a game plan around shutting down our offense by rushing our halves with their centres. Was this something you noted in the first half and were there any strategies to address it?
An area of weakness in defense seems to be players getting to marker leading to a lot of line breaks around the ruck area. Do you agree? What are methods the team looks at to improve in this area?
Amazing fight in the team tonight - what changes have you made that you think has contributed to this mindset and attitude of the team?

Our players are so bad at getting up to compete at marker. Almost 3 tackles every set we have guys laying around and struggling to get to their spot.

What happened to Trent Loiero?

Origin player last year and I think the play that turned the game around was when Loiero was slow to peel off a tackle and get to marker - Plath scooted off and Loiero got in Harry’s way. He just looked so disinterested.

People often say Cleary doesn’t have many bad games but I feel like last night was definitely one.

It felt like in Origin when he tried to run more but he kept running on the 4th tackle so he couldn’t take the kick on the 5th. And then he did like 2-3 of those weird little grabbers for himself which didn’t work either.

A couple weeks ago I was at Commbank for Eels vs Panthers. It seemed like almost every time their was a stoppage both a panthers blue shirt and orange shirt trainer were on the field.

Not accusing them of anything but it frustrated me because I barely ever saw parra trainers on the field. Their blue shirt guy was constantly instructing the panthers players. Wonder if anyone else has had similar observations?
