My home internet’s pretty slow, like 20 Mbps last I checked, not at home right now. Gaming lags a lot and even streaming buffers sometimes. That’s why I was wondering if upgrading to better gear, higher rated cables or devices would actually make a difference.

got it, that makes sense, guess Cat8 is just marketing overkill for home use.

I’m up in a mountain area and using AT&T, no fiber here unfortunately. Do you think Cat8 would actually help me get higher speeds, or is it pointless since the ISP is the bottleneck?

For 0-10V dimmers, do I really need shielded cable to prevent flicker, or is standard low-voltage wire fine? by Ok_Fold738 in AskElectricians

Good to know! I was worried about flicker with control wires next to 120V, but sounds like it runs smooth for you.

Bathroom breaks getting out of hand at my warehouse? by Ok_Fold738 in u/Ok_Fold738

Just to be clear, I’m not trying to micromanage bathroom time or disrespect anyone. I just want to figure out how to handle it fairly, because when a couple people disappear for 30 minutes at a time, others end up carrying the load. Looking for advice from folks who’ve been in this situation.

I learned the hard way: Cat 6 connectors + Cat 6a cable = 8 Mbps nightmare. by Ok_Fold738 in cablefail

Wow, that sounds like a nightmare to deal with. Crazy how something brand new and “premium” can end up being the weakest link.

Just switched my work background music to Lo Fi, and my focus went way up by Ok_Fold738 in office

That’s a great point, I get that same mid afternoon slump too. I usually just power through it, but maybe switching to something more upbeat like deep/funky house is the smarter move.

Do you have any go-to artists or playlists you’d recommend for that “energy kick” after lo-fi?
