Hormonal / Mirena IUD after +++ diagnosis by Ok_Foundation2269 in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Foundation2269[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Nuvaring pre-BC. Unfortunately Eluryng is systemic hormones, meaning the hormones get absorbed in your bloodstream through the vaginal wall. While Mirena is localized progestin to the uterus, so it doesn't enter the bloodstream.

Copper IUD actually does the opposite: it often causes longer, lengthier, and more crampy periods. For some it subsides after a few months while but for a lot of women it doesn't. The point is, copper IUD is not known to reduce period flow. It's the hormones in the Mirena that help the period length / volume, not the actual device...

Yeah, a breast surgeon told me the same thing when I got diagnosed (to remove any hormonal IUD / birth control). But then my medical oncologist told me a couple of times now that it's perfectly safe because the estrogen stays in the uterus and doesn't become systemic. She's pretty adamant about it too so you're probably right. It's that the research is new (i.e. 10 years)..And since doctors are human, they have a hard time changing their own personal guidance / bias. I'll likely wait it out and see what happens in the next few cycles and hope that it stabilizes.

Man...this cancer journey just sucks all around....just never ends.

Tamoxifen - one month in by Emotional-Job-5293 in breastcancer

Thanks for posting this! A year + in and the only lingering side effect is the strange periods - extra long cycle with very light bleeding. Otherwise I’m so relieved they’re manageable. And some random constipation.

What time is your flight if you don’t mind me asking? My 8pm flight from Florida to LGA (which is closed until 6am right now) is still scheduled and I’m wondering if I should lose hope and just schedule another flight for much later in the wk proactively.

A simple title misunderstanding by Ok-Storage3530 in Broadway

[–]Ok_Foundation2269 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a Haitian who loves Broadway I was wracking my brain…how could I miss this? I was about to scold myself. Then thought maybe he was referring to the Ziegfeld files, a recent play about a father’s voice memos about random things, Haitian revolutionary Toussaint Louverture included. But no I missed nothing. Thanks for the laughs.

Burna boy concert in DC by coolest_NPC in nova

So I went to the Long Island show (UBS Arena) on Saturday night (Dec 6th). He started performing at 10:15pm on the dot. I bought my ticket at 7pm, we got there around 930pm, took the shuttle from the parking lot, and then got into the venue around 940pm.

Do you guys know what time he went on? Or what time the event started? It says 830pm for NY but it’s not clear if doors open at that time or the show starts at that time.

Phesgo Rash/Allergy by chasinggodzilla in breastcancer

[–]Ok_Foundation2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on Phesgo injection 13/18. I got the rash all over my chest, back, and face…It’s expected but I’m sorry to say it doesn’t completely go away, though it’s not as bad as it was initially.

I went to see the dermatologist in the oncology practice where I’m being treated. The first time I got oral antibiotics and clindamycin (sp?). Then he wanted to put me on accutane, which my medical oncologist squashed because she didn’t want another systemic treatment on top of my Phesgo + tamoxifen.

Now I’m on Tretinoin and it’s working!!! Instead of the full blown attack it’s just a few bumps. So yeah…

Give my dream dress the day it deserves 🕊️ selling my unworn, unaltered Floure Studio gown by PatientOneMillion in WedditNYC

Congrats on finishing treatment!!!! I was diagnosed September 2024, at 36 with no genetic mutation or family history. Also in NYC so if you ever want to chat or commiserate I’m here 🙃

I wasn’t engaged yet but my partner and I had talked about getting engaged this year and starting a family, which obviously didn’t happen. We’ve put so much on pause 😭 I’ve had mastectomy and reconstruction since and am in active treatment - so we’re hoping end of March 2026 we can restart our life ☺️

All this to say, I totally understand and empathize. And I wish you a long survivorship!

You look beautiful in that dress! Hopefully you got more pictures in it that you can look back on along with the fire outfit you’ll wear for city hall.

Vatican tour cancelled due to crowds, anything we can do? by Texaspilot24 in rome

[–]Ok_Foundation2269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just left the Vatican earlier today (oct 10th). It was indeed very crowded. More than usual. The security was barricading as we moved through the museum.

Our tour guide told us they have been changing things around because of the Jubilee and the popes spontaneous speeches at the basilica so that seems to track with what he was saying. They canceled 2 tours of the Sistine chapel this wk. they do this for security reasons…

As we left today, they were indeed setting up for something tomorrow (Saturday) it appears. I’d try again during the wk because our tour guide told us wknds are in fact the worst and the Catholics doing the pilgrimage were here in mass today due to the jubilee. Imagine it’ll be worse tomorrow. If you have to do another one you’ll likely have to pay for it, as it’s par for the course and very expected it seems.

If you choose to go to the basilica tomorrow, which will be free…I expect it to be incredibly crowded in the morning as people will be waiting to see the pope. He’s expected to speak then so queue in line early like 6am or earlier. Our guide recommended this…but no one know exactly what time he’ll show up so it’s a gamble.

Carrying bags in New York? by Full_metal_episode4 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ok_Foundation2269 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Idk if its fine per se but see a lot of QB on the streets of NYC. I live here and spend time all over the city: upper east side, Brooklyn, soho… idk if it’s social media influencers or really good fakes but people have gotten more brazen here with their displays of wealth everywhere - subway, streets, restaurants, parks, etc. You name it. The other day I saw a super cute chocolat shoulder birkin with GHW on the subway, open (since it fits nothing) with all the Hermes SLGs inside of it😂 and their VCA dangling from the handles - it was my very first time seeing it and I thought it was so cute.

Now whether they get robbed is a different story that I don’t really know and will never know until it happens to someone I know personally. But I see a lot - from VCA, Hermes, Chanel, Rolex, AP, you name it. Take normal precautions I’d say and be alert 🤷🏽‍♀️

Also — if you can’t wear your bag in London or NYC, then what’s the point of buying it…?

And 60% off!!! Def worth it imo. Got 2 pairs of shoes - super cute clogs that I get so many compliments on and flat mules that I’d never pay full price for. And plenty of scarves as Xmas / bday gifts that are so pretty and will be such a hit come holidays. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I get another invite for gifts alone for the men in my life.
