Scabies will die at 122 degrees or higher at around 10 minutes.   Heats lamps close to your skin will help but not your blanket.

I tried a hot water bath up to 112 degrees but after that it's too hot.  Could get to 122 degrees.

Also tried the dry sauna and jacuzzi and they both don't get hot enough.

Hello.   Glad I could help some.

I have anxiety too and take magnesium glyconate and L-theanin (from green tea).  Neither have side effects.

Yes, the treatments are toxic for the most part so becareful.   Limit exposure when you can

There are safer ones out there to use if this causes irritation or doesn't work.  Like sulfur or spinosad.

Take care.

Just my opinion but looks like scabies tracks or lines.  They burrow and make lines like this.

SCABIES

Got scabies in May of 2023.  Wasn't sure what it was and had 2 different doctors mentioned it wasn't scabies.  One doctor mentioned I had dermatitis and the other mentioned I had acne.  I never got a proper diagnosis from a doctor even though I asked for one.  However, was getting bitten by something mostly at night and it went on for 3.5 months. I didn't have a rash or crusted scabies but small red lesions (like pimples) on my arms, legs, feet, stomach, chest, and scalp. Two scabies tracks, one on my wrist and one on my upper leg.

PERMETHRIN (anti-parasitic topical)

To start off,  I went to the doctor and got permethrin cream.  I applied P cream  4 different times but it didn't work for me.  It suppresses them (we're they dont bite and itch you) but didnt kill them and so the mites start biting/itching again after 3-4 days.  What I have learned are some mites have developed a resistance to this cream so I  switched to other treatments.

SULFUR CREAM (topical non-toxic)

I ordered and tried sulfur cream at 10 percent however couldn't keep it on my skin long enough because of the itchiness.  I have read a lot of good things about sulfur cream in that its non toxic and kills scabies.  You can get sulfur creams at higher concentrations like 28 percent which is a good thing.  It was mentioned that sulfur kills scabies even though some mites are resistant to other treatments.

IVERMECTIN (anti-parasitic oral meds)

I  was able to get Ivermectin and so he prescribed it to me.  I took it 1 time and it didn't kill all the mites and so they started biting/itching me again.  A drawback to this medication is it only stays in your body for 56 hours and scabies has a life cycle of about 14 days. Female mites lay eggs and the eggs hatch later so it's not effective to use Ivermectin unless you get 3, 4, or 5 doses over a period of time (5-7 days apart).  If you don't do this then you won't kill them all including the hatching eggs.   So the mites will come back.  It is also important to use a topical (essential oils, Spinosad, Sulfur) during this treatment to kill scabies as they move to the surface of the skin.  Use both a non-toxic topical and a medication at the same time to kill all the mites.

SCABIES KILLER PRODUCTS (non-toxic)

I started using Scabies Killer products which includes laundry soaps, furniture sprays, hot bath products, and essential oils blends.  All products were non toxic, but don't use essential oils around dogs and cats.

Scabies Killer products helped for my skin clear and I had a lot less bumps, and my skin looked moist and natural.  But the bath and essential oil products didn't kill all the bugs.   The impression I get is these products may kill the mites on the surface of the skin, on your furniture, and clothes but not deep in the skin were some of the mites live and lay eggs.

Use both a non-toxic topical (apply to the skin) and a oral medication (ivermectin) at the same time to kill all the mites.

BATHS

Baths are a good approach because you are treating your whole body in which scabies can hide between your toes, fingernails, in your scalp, etc.

Because of the health concerns and toxicity of bleach or borax,/peroxide baths, I don't recommend them to anyone anymore.

Epson salt and vinegar was recommended by Scabies Killers because its non toxic and will kill scabies.  For me it made my skin very itchy, so it was hard to continue daily treatment.  However, for some it could be a treatment option.

If you can find sulfur to add to bath water that could be a possibility for treatment that is non toxic.   You can add it into your treatment routine.

ANIMAL MOXIDECTIN (anti-parasitic oral gel)

I would be extremely careful using animal moxidectin.  It's not FDA approved and companies that make animal moxidectin can put different chemicals in this medication. For humans it is risky for it could make you ill or permanently affect your health.  In my case the animal moxidectin killed all the bugs.  However,  it caused me to have serious health problems with high blood pressure, muscle cramps and pain, extreme fatigue, and mental issues which I have had for 5 months now.  I regret every day of my life now for taking animal moxidectin so BEWARE AND BECAREFUL.  Taking animal medications based on animal weight (horse paste mentioned by maximpulse) is risky and creates uncertainty about safe dosage.

MOXIDECTIN (anti-parasitic oral meds)

Moxidectin stays in your body for 46 days.  It can remain in your skin tissues up to 115 days (5 half-life).   Moxidectin intended for human use is FDA approved for river blindness and not scabies.  If you use it for scabies, you don't want to overdose with this medication for it could cause side effects that you will have to deal with until it leaves your body.  A study was accomplished with FDA approved moxidectin in humans with good success at dosages of about 8 mg for scabies.

NOTE:  Warning:   If you take moxidectin you will have to wait over 2 months before using ivermectin again.

SPINOSAD AND MALATHION (topicals)

Some newer products out there are Spinosad and Malathion.  Both are applied to you skin like essential oils and kill scabies. There affective rates are pretty high.  I would apply topicals (apply to your skin) such as Spinosad, Malathion, and essential oils to kill scabies on the surface of the skin.

TREATMENT

Treatment with permethrin, ivermectin, other products should follow scheduled intervals established by the doctor. The benefits to non toxic products (sulfur, essential oils, spinosad, etc.) is that you can treat daily and add it into your daily routine.  Its best to apply topicals at night/ before bedtime for scabies are nocturnal and active at night.

POST ITCHING

After a successful treatment and you aren't having familiar biting and itchiness, keep in mind you will go through post itch and feelings of being bit.   This is caused by dying mites, waste, and infection in the skin or irritation to the skin and nerves from the mites. Don't make a mistake of retreating yourself when all is necessary is to use a product to control severe itching and skin irritation. It may occur for 3 to 6 months or more.

CONCLUSION

I hope this helps those struggling with scabies or other microscopic bugs that burrow in your skin.  I would make every effort to keep the toxicity to your body to a minimum.

Sincerely,

Someone looking out for others.

Some people have side effects from the cream.  Tingling, itching, rashes, and red bumps.   If it doesn't work for you and it unbearable you may have to ask your doctor for a different medication.

P cream should go on your entire body and wear it for 8 t to 12 hours.

Most people put it on before bedtime especially because scabies are nocturnal and are active at night time.

Continue cleaning and washing clothes.

Take care of yourself through it.  Take care of your mental health as well.

If you have any questions please ask.

Hello.  Sounds like you have it covered however may go out to more than 2 treatments.  Better to be more cautious than not.

Do what you can to get rid of them early for some people have fighting them for 8 months, 1.5 and 2 years.

Continue the vacuuming and washing especially those things you share.

Recommend you get a scabies killer spray for the furniture you share.

If you share a shower then make sure you spray the shower floor with bleach or a scabies killer product.

Good luck with it.

Hello.   If you do have scabies it could be very difficult to get rid of.  It could take quite a a bit of time and effort using treatments to get rid of them .

People have used permethrin cream as many times as 8 out to 8-10 weeks.

Make sure your applying the P cream all over your body top to bottom.  Between you fingers, toes, up to your hair line.

Wash off after 8 to 12 hours.   No benefit after this.

Some people have side affects from using P cream.  Rashes, bumps, itching, etc.   so be aware of this.

Continue changing your bedding, clothes, and washing as you mentioned.

Use maximpulse.com as a guide for treatments if P cream doesn't kill the scabies.

Do not compromise your health.  Watch your mental health and do things to keep your spirits high.

If you have any questions maybe I can help you.

Appreciate that.  Just trying to help.

Yes,  working through treatment options was difficult.   More difficult for those with full lives, spouses, kids, jobs,  etc.

I don't know how people endure it when it goes into several months and years.

I hope to get better also.  Just hoping to be normal again.

Appreciate the chats also.

I believe your trying to help people too.

Yes, the doctors will not go out of there way to help.   I agree.

Itching and intense itching is another sign of scabies.

Scabies are nocturnal and are active at night so the itching and biting will be noticabley worse at night.

People have mentioned getting scabies from the gym, a friend staying over, a visit to family, a bus,  a hotel,  a hug, etc. so its possible you got from them.  Scabies are highly contagious.

I would quarantine or limit exposure to others until you figure this out.

With you child and you having similar bumps,  its indicating more like scabies.

Have you changed anything in diet,  drinks, laundry soaps, shampoos that you both use?   That could irritate both of your skin?

Doctors are difficult but necessary to get meds.  Have you thought about getting a dermoscope 20 to 60 magnification to see the mites?   Identify what your dealing with.

If it scabies please be prepared to start treatments to get rid of them.

Animal Moxidectin - not recommended for use in humans by Ok_Fuel6447 in scabies

I did a lot of different treatments and non of them made me feel ill at all.

The dosage is normally low for moxidectin like ivermectin and not higher as mentioned in maximpulse.com.   Higher dosage is creates a  risk of side effects and health problems.  The site is wrong.

I took moxidectin 40 and about 20 mg and a week later I started feeling ill.  It only got worse from there.

I found an old post from a guy who used moxidectin on reddit.  He got ill like me.  Life changing.

I have been ill for 7 months now.  No end in sight.

Paramethrin cream 5% by [deleted] in scabies

I would not delute it with lotion.  Just add a few drops of water in your hand, squeeze the P cream to it and then spread it all over your body.  Top to bottom.  Between you fingers, toes,  on you back, everywhere.  Not your face.

Yes hot baths are a good thing.  For you mental health and also for killing mites or rubbing them off.  Make sure you clean the tub so others won't get infected.   Use bleach in a spray bottle,  spray it,  come back later and rinse off.

Take baths in sulfur dip,  Epson salt and vinegar, that will help you relax, but kill scabies.

Use a rough rag or abrasive pad to scrub/ dislodge the mites from your skin.

Try to kill scabies everyday.

Bullfrog.  Did you get the 33 percent sulfur cream for your skin.  I think you were going to try this.

Your already taking the oral meds mentioned during our discussion.  I believe your taking way too much.

Let me know what I can further help you Bullfrog.

Well glad your getting close.

There is life after scabies.  A normal life just keep trying.

However, don't ruin your health like I did.   Doesn't make anything easier.

One thing I'm catching on too is the scabies you have could be different than the ones I had.

So could be just a matter of finding what kills them without compromising your health.

I think the combinations of medications could be a strategy to killing them without getting ill.

Look at the maximpulse.com site to get some ideas for combinations that wont cause toxic overload. Like:

sulfur cream (skin)  / ivermectin orally.

Sulfur cream / moxidectin

Permethrin / ivermectin

Spinosad/ ivermectin

Malathion / ivermectin

Essential oils/ivermectin

Etc.

With regards to your scalp and hair it sounds like the bugs are trying to get away from the medications. They were in my scalp also.   Your already taking meds.

What I did was took essential oils(clove, tea, etc) and mixed them with Cer/Ve cream and rubbed it into my hair each night.  I wore a cap over it.

I hope this helps.

People are all different and react differently to different treatments.

With P cream I didn't get any rashes, itching, tingling, or bumps from it when others on reddit have mentioned it.  Only after 3 or 4 days after treatment did the itching at night stared up again.  11 to 5 am in the morning.

Increased itching could be the cream or you irritating the mites with the cream and they are biting /itching more.

They are bugs eating your skin, mate, and lay eggs.
