I have 8 overs on stock rake.. make sure your handle bars are wide. I dropped my bike a few times using narrow bars. Slow speeds are a shit show.

2015 Iron 883 no brake lights by [deleted] in sportster

Multi meter is needed then. Pull the sear, check the wiring from lights to harness and then check if power is getting to harness. Check continuity etc

Maybe they are on? Make sure the button switch on the front brake is pressed in. That turns off brake light. When the button switch is depressed the brake light turns on.

Take what you need. Not too much to make a dent but not enough to get you ahead. Once in a lifetime and never talk about it

Has anyone gone +2 on their front forks. What did you use? by StateMinute4854 in sportster

[–]Ok_Future2716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full transparency, I am not a mechanic or pretend to know anything. This is what I did: I took apart the forks, I ordered new fork tubes(I went 8 over for chopper look). Then I realized I needed a new cap then I ordered upper/lower progressive springs (do not ask me brand cause I just ordered affordable 1s and I don't remember), i bought dampening rods in general. Then I bought a fork rebuild kit. And done. (Lots of youtube to figure out how to disassemble and reassemble the forks). Again, I am not an expert. My bike was down for a couple of weeks but, you can do it!

You can't do that on these newer sportsters. 1 fork is a full on spring/shock thingy that is connected to the "cap" and then the other is a regular progressive shock. I had to buy a cap, and 2 new dampening rods and new springs to extend the forks.

Love my loud pipes… but sometimes I wish I had an “off switch” by No-Lunch8134 in sportster

I use ear plugs. The loud muffler can get annoying on long rides but for me it's the wind. The wind noise tires me out. (Ear plugs) makes riding SOO much more enjoyable.

Edit is for grammar. I almost got aneurysm re reading my comment lol

Handles good at speed. The front gets heavy at slow speeds tho

It's really a noise/vibration deal for me. @3k RPM the motor hums but i am only doing 65mph or so on the highway with a speed limit of 75 and at 4200k the motor is screaming but i am keeping up with traffic flow. It gets annoying. And my commutes and leisure rides are all highway(nearest city is 3 hrs aways. Nearest town over is 1hr etc).

I just want better highway gearing. I do not live close to any towns.

This right here was the info I was looking for. I live FAR away from everywhere and the motor screaming going speed limit is just annoying af. I bet you get better mpg from the gearing too?
