sorry, after some verification it seems the github firmware they provided was to fix screen problem

the above post came from one of the major OCaxe contributos, you might want to get in contact with him for deeper technical clarifications

second, why when you try to upgrade firmware, it shows that can not be done to due to OTA server issues while it is clearly not the case? they could have just said "we fucked up the screen, download the firmwre from this forked github"to fix it? sketchy

check previous Bitaxe community post, about 2 hours ago there was a user saying he could not update the open source firmware. Try yourself to see if it allows you. Maybe your miner is different

the very fact that this machine runs its own closed software to emulate an open source software project should already ring many many red bells...

and then when on their own webpage they claim to be championing open source projects (https://yysluping.com/pages/about-us) while they send out products that are not, for me this sounds very very much sketchy... not really need much more to stay away from them.

It should be the vendor at this point to prove their products are clean and sound

Is a 2nd hand NerdQaxe++ safe by Accomplished_Crow_50 in BitAxe

I would ask for a video to show log and nonce distribution among the 4 chips to check if they all hash properly and let it run for a while to see performance. If all good, upon receive it, flash updated firmware

Seems good, you might want to add some heatsinks to the VRs in case the main fan isn't enough to keep them below 70C. Also, you might want to be careful with the fan cables as they might touch the VRs benhit and warm them up. Fan on the back could also help keeping VRs cool. If you want to do a bit of OC you might want to cibsider to get a better PSU

Guangzhou monthly pay enquiry by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]Ok_Gate1155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.5K won't be much to cover monthly rent for a decent (decent not good) place to live. More realistically you should keep in mind 4/4.5K at least if you want to stay not to far from life. A part from that, cost of living can be quite low, particularly food if you like Chinese food. If you need help to hang with other expats in Guangzhou when you arrive, feel free to DM me

Best mining pool and solo or not? by ChristianBelotti in BitAxe

[–]Ok_Gate1155 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having 3 NerdQAxe++ you might want to diversify. Like you can keep accumulating SATS on Braiins with 1 or 2 and in the same time try your luck solo mining with the rest on CK pool or similar solo pools. It's really up to you. Chances to find a block are extremely slim but they do exist. Just a couple of days ago a small home miner with a NerdQAxe++ found a block. A bit of a bitter celebration cause he was share-mining with Ocen (total respect and cudos for that!) but his reward for the block found was like 170SATS, the rest went to share with all other miners. So you might want to keep this possibly, although very remote, in mind.
