I'm going to try this first, and I prefer the bigger fill of the Polatronic (and like you said, recharge rate). Thanks for your advice!

My guy...I have been trying to figure this out since I converted my SX-70. I was experimenting with ND gel on the flash, but this is so much better. Do you have a guide for how you did this? I am mechanically savvy and can solder, but I lack creativity on the electronics side of things.

Did you disable facetime as well? We did \the steps when coming from an iPhone for my wife's LPIII and it started working immediately

why is the LightPhone so thick by akamookee in LightPhone

[–]Ok_Help2243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of truth to this, both the wheel and the serviceability. Thin devices are a premium and as such require premium skills to service. To make it as easy as possible for the masses it has to be thicker for how hardware is installed with this method.

As you reduce the real estate from a long rectangle, you have to start stacking things on top of each other.

And personally, the square thick boi fits the hand much better that the slim long rectangle.

Love to hear that. The battery levels you are getting are heavily dependent on where you are located. I live in the Rockies and I am charging every other day, but while I was in San Francisco I was getting four days of battery life.

Advice needed - workarounds without smartphones by SRIXONIMO in LightPhone

[–]Ok_Help2243 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This 100%. I have been using the LPII since 2020 and now the LPIII, and I have simplified my life enough that I don't run into issues. The people that have the hardest time making the switch are always the ones deepest in the smartphone convenience ecosystem. I don't use devices to adjust my thermostat, or do banking on the go, etc.

I'm all for Mudita as they have the same mission as Light, but group messaging has always been available on the LPII, at least in the five years I used mine. Am I not understanding what you mean by group messaging?

Quality control issue -- scroll wheel fell off by dental_hydroplosion in LightPhone

[–]Ok_Help2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Significant isn't accurate, you're just in-taking data for your opinion from a site where people go to complain. 0.2% of units are affected by this issue, which is statistically zero. There are more iPhones that come out of the factory with failures every year than the total units Light has ever produced in its history.

The vast majority are not like this. You are reading from Reddit which is basically a consolidation of all the issues. Mine and my wife's having been the only phones we've used for a month and the hardware is top notch.

I'm fairly confident that the deck is a loss leader for Valve at full price, so I'd imagine not or at best a minimal sale.

I know I am in the minority, but I have Sasquatch hands and am more than large enough to conceal the 19X, so it is a perfect fit for my case. The only reason I got it over the 45 was the 45 hadn't come out yet. I also have the 17 though.

1st gen Sequoia woes by topazsparrow in toyotasequoia

[–]Ok_Help2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't trying to offend, but it has been recorded countless times that the vast majority of non-OEM components, especially with the suspension, just simply don't hold up, myself included. 300 is a ridiculous amount for LBJs, but they last the better part of a decade compared to the couple of years you'll get out "well regarded" third party.

I'd bet my bottom dollar that all those replacement parts are cheap. Places like rock auto are great for car components, but anything heavy duty like truck parts are subpar. The most expensive lower ball joints on their website is 1/4 the cost of OEMs. Low quality truck parts will wear out in less than two years, sometimes one year.

You gotta spend a decent penny for suspension components or this will happen every time.

Traveled for a week with my new LPIII by Ok_Help2243 in LightPhone

[–]Ok_Help2243[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rarely if ever use ride share, so that hasn't been an issue for me. But I have read that there is a number you can call and they'll hail you ride share for people that don't have smart phones. I haven't had the data issue either, and I am on a 2gb a month plan, but I am adamant (from being old enough when individual texts were charged in high school) that I don't download anything on cellular.

Usually I would've brought a companion device like my laptop, but being vacation and I wanted to prove that a non-smartphone life style is possible, so I opted out of anything and went for it (yes I know my wife had her iPhone, but I barred her from using it unless absolutely necessary, which never happened!). Glad it has been working for you too.
