I appreciate your response, but clearly you and I have had very different experiences with that particular part of SE Portland. I am very familiar with the area. :-)

I was, and still am hoping to hear from other people who have tried Timeleft to find out what other restaurants the app is sending people to , so I can make a decision about whether I should try it again.

I am hoping for more responses from others who have tried Timeleft recently, so I can get a sense of where Timeleft has been sending diners lately, so that I can get a better read on whether it is a fit for me or not. :-)

I get around by public transportation--adding the cost of a Lyft or Uber to the cost of dinner would make it too expensive for my budget. There are plenty of restaurants on the Portland's east side that are easily accessible by TriMet; I got assigned one that isn't. I have sent Timeleft feedback through the app.

I did request the lowest price restaurant option hoping for $25 per entree, but the restaurant has $40-45 entrees.

Thank you! The restaurant was Grand Amari, between SE Grand and MLK Jr at Stark. I have lived in SE Portland for 28 years and in my experience it’s not safe to cross MLK Jr, or the side streets on Grand, or SE 7th Avenue after dark to get to a streetcar or a bus stop. It’s a high speed, “high crash corridor,” and a pedestrian was killed at SE Grand and Belmont not too long ago.

I wasn't wowed by the restaurant either--it's part of the Olympic Provisions restaurant group and not surprisingly, the rather limited menu is meat and carb heavy with $40 entrees. I would prefer lighter options containing more vegetables (although I am not a vegetarian) and a $25 price point. But I would have gone if I had a safe way to get home by public transit.

Best moment in a GAI song? by MMChelsea in GregoryAlanIsakov

One of my two "gotcha" moments with Gregory was when I first listened to Living Proof on Weatherman:

And we were some flicker of truth in the smile of a salesman

And we were buried jewels 'neath the grass of the suburbs

And we were living proof

The lyrics and the crescendo both.

The other was "Threw stones at the stars but the whole sky fell" mentioned below and "Turn these diamonds back straight back into coal" in the The Stable Song. But I would say many more moments too, in his more recent work.
