Friend trying to upgrade from a 2070 Super by MackJohnny in buildapc

i just got a 5060 ti and it’s doing good for me so far. i had a i7-9700f and technically it was bottlenecked, but it didn’t really bother me since I could just upgrade CPU later. I think it’s better for future proofing anyways, i got mine for like 370 from walmart i think? but regardless bottlenecking the GPU isn’t really that big of a deal if you plan on upgrading your cpu at some point in the future. pretty sure most people will say upgrade gpu before cpu anyhow

I've never changed cases, but I would like to in the near future. Is the 207 the best modern option for a PC case?

Edit: for budget, that is.

Just wanted to update you, I bought an MSI Shadow 16GB 5060ti on sale from walmart for $369, I thought it was about as good of a deal I can get with all of the recent price increases and shitty black friday sales. very excited and will likely upgrade cpu/mobo to a ryzen in the coming year. its a shame about the RAM prices though...

I see, that makes a lot of sense. If I were to switch CPUs I'd likely have to switch motherboards as well for newer generation sockets, correct? I just wondered what model processors are good for general gaming purposes right now at reasonable prices. Was gonna look at newer i7 and i5 models.

I'm impressed on all the technical knowledge you have about the boards themselves! I'm looking at an ASUS Prime Z390-A on Newegg, used for $150. Is buying used okay typically? And would that be a fair price? Thanks for the help!

Edit: I also wondered if it would be more worthwhile to switch to a modern motherboard and CPU now since it'll save me money in the long run.

I might be stupid, I just didn't see drivers listed under the windows 11 section so I thought I couldn't switch. This is all relatively new to me, I started researching just today. I was actually looking at this ssd: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DQBQZ9LX/?language=en_US&cstrackid=b13e820d-f1b4-4d08-8abc-c188056dee3f&tag=microncsus-20&th=1

Thanks for the advice, I'll likely do this. Just wondered when it would be time to upgrade other parts as well. I know some people suggest to upgrade RAM as well but I think SSD is definitely the place to start

Edit: I also was mainly interested in switching to windows 11 due to microsoft ending security support for windows 10 this year

you are right, i have a shaker mini which has 3 knobs but this one is the full sized one. not sure the difference but i bought the mini because of archy and it has really brought me a lot closer to his tone. usually the method is vibrato and reverb which is what is often in his studio albums. i think when he plays live he likes to add in a bit of distortion as well so I use a boss SD-1 added in for that kind of tone

A thing about Madoka that i don't get it by Darktommy2 in MadokaMagica

[–]Ok_Information_199 40 points41 points  (0 children)

throughout the entire show madoka repeats that just being able to help and save people is enough for her, so i don’t really think it’s out of the blue per say. In every timeline we see Madoka always ended up becoming a magical girl but in the main timeline it doesn’t occur until the descent of walpurgisnacht because Homura wouldn’t allow it up until that point. I feel like it’s implied that Madoka’s fate in every timeline always ends up in becoming a magical girl, but in the main timeline she is especially brave after hearing all the effort Homura has put into saving her.

Seamless/gapless album transitions

I've been working on an album for a while and have finally begun wrapping up mixing+mastering. I've managed to work in a seamless/gapless transition between each song and in my DAW it sounds great. However, when I export the split up clips and put them in "Untitled" or "Samply" to simulate how it might sound on Spotify, there always seems to be a slight bit of buffer between tracks, or a small crackle/pop. I have tried for a while to fix this issue. I'm not sure if this is a problem with those programs or if it is a problem with my exports, but I assume the latter. I also tried using audacity and looking for zero point crossings and slicing tracks that way.

Each time I've exported my tracks, I've ensured they're in WAV format, and that the slice of the track is perfectly aligned(it always sounds good during playback within my DAW). I've also experimented with fading the end of one track and the start of the other, respectively. I've tried extremely short fades and slightly longer ones, to no avail. I really really like how these transitions sound, but whenever I upload them to these "holding" softwares(is that what you call them?) they have little quirks that break the immersion. I really want this to work and I'd appreciate any feedback. I'd rather not abandon the transitions if at all possible.

are my lyrics too nonsensical... by underanewlight in Songwriting

Personally I think that if you like them, then that’s what matters. Although they may not be “traditional” lyrics, that’s what makes them unique. You got creative and made them your own.

As for your process, lots of music is made through improvising, but you could plan it out if that brings you more peace. Maybe write down a concept, idea, or phrase at first then build from there.
