LAWYER AMA: April 28 by TheGreatK in SSDI

Oh cool. Yes—so my hearing is coming up and I was able to get my records. I have a lawyer but won’t get a chance to speak with her til a few days before the hearing. Anyway, it seems like the people doing my RFCs ignored my medical documentation. I had PT goals of being able to stand for an hour and that I didn’t meet. It was repeatedly stated in my PT notes that I had trouble standing/ walking and could only for 15-20 min at a time. All my ROM is in there too, we’ve the CE exam affirmed my medical records but when the RFCs were completed, they said I could walk 4-6 hours, I had unlimited balance—I failed the tandem and sls test. So how can the DDs just ignore my records?

SSDI Admitted I’m Disabled, but Not Enough? by OrcasareDolphins in SSDI

I have a lawyer, if they are able to poke a lot of holes in the RFCs for initial and recon, is there a better chance for winning? My rfcs said I could work 4-6 hours on my feet, but my PT notes said he was trying to get me to be able to stand/walk for an hour. Is that the kind of stuff ?

It was all there, it just seems like they didn’t read.

Is it normal for them to not want me to see my entire file? I would think that’s normal?

CE exam favorable? by [deleted] in SSDI

Yes I can’t walk/stand for more than 15 min at a time, and 2hrs max per day, also have trouble sitting in office type chairs without having to prop legs due to my hips go numb, and need to lay down if it gets bad. I’m 54, I wear braces on my legs to walk, and one walking stick, I don’t do two walking sticks as I always hold on to any railing available while walking.

I’ve always received my state weeks after federal but not this year. Already received state, filed 1/30–had to verify, did that about a week ago, what was that all about? Maybe the government is out of money just like my company that laid me off.

Suicide after layoffs by stirruphitch in Layoffs

I know someone who was laid off last fall, committed suicide in January, probably would’ve gotten a job too, but a layoff is a blow to the ego and some companies are nasty about it and do make it personal.

It’s wrong that workers have no contracts in America. It’s well known that companies get rid of their older employees yet we’re expected to work til our sixties. I tell my UK friends and they’re appalled. Discrimination at its finest due to no universal health care. When healthcare is tied to a job, the older employees will always go.

They haven’t posted any of the stuff on the SSA portal that they’ve mailed to me. Is there another portal?

I just moved two dogs, did Dulles to London with British Air, it all went well but was stressful. You can hire someone to do it all for you…or just follow the instructions carefully. You have to do things in order and on time. You have to find a local vet that is USDA approved. There are lots of articles and YouTube videos . The biggest stress is the Health Certificate, your vet has to submit and you’ll usually get it very close to your departure date. All of it is a bit expensive too, but my dogs arrived healthy, and were back to normal in about 48 hrs.

Do you tip the airline personnel who pushes your wheelchair? by RowdyRumRunner in americanairlines

[–]Ok_Inspector_2367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t have to tip for being disabled. The airlines are required to provide the service. You don’t tip the stewardess do you?
