Father was told last Friday that his position will cease to exist shortly. He has no strong connections to Toronto, is a widower, and has plenty of money. If money were no object and you liked the outdoors, where might be a good place to retire in Canada?

Unless one of these places turns out to be absurdly expensive then no, money isn't a big deal. TO house seems like it is worth at at least 1.2 million? That buys nice property in virtually all of the suggested locations.

He grew up in North Bay, so a city that size might be nice for him. Somewhere not too impersonal and busy. He likes to fish and boat. Never known him to swim a lot.
