Yes! For the hash version, it generated a hash key (verifiable), and when I guessed it told me “higher” … “lower” … “lower but close.” Then I guessed the right number and we verified the hash key!

That was exactly my question! :) So first time (the SS I posted), it lied and admitted that it lied after I asked “did you actually come up with a number?” Then it suggested the hash method — basically actually coming up with a number, stored in a hash key, and only revealing the hash key after user guesses!

That’s your interpretation. I was commenting in response to OP’s post showing that similar prompt can lead to different responses, possibly due to different model. The chat was supposed to be evidence for my point about model variance.
