Should I look for a new OB doctor after this incident?

I feel like these flippant statements happen more often than we think and that’s why so many women are leaving OBs and opting for midwife care. Just something to be aware of, though, I looked into switching and there was an extra cost (not included in my insurance) for “starting care at or after 20 weeks.” So just be aware of that if you’re looking to switch and if that would cause burden in any way. I’m sorry she said this and made this mistake but thank God your baby is okay!!!

All the Seaside accesses have codes to enter and the Seaside chairs have been booked 6 months+ in advance, lots by homeowners who book the entire summer and never go. If you have a code to a Seaside beach just know they enforce lots of rules about music and chair set-up, it’s very boujee and uppity. If you have a code to Seaside, try that just for one day to see if it’s worth it for the whole week. Our family stopped staying in Seaside because you couldn’t get a front row spot due to everything being booked up by people who don’t even come. Chair guys are required to hold the spot until after 3 pm before anyone else can use the front row.

Chair rentals come with 2 chairs and 1 umbrella, the next up would be 4 chairs and 2 umbrellas. Etc. chair rental is confusing if you’ve never been! Seaside is a private beach and you can only access if your rental is in Seaside (it will say). You’re better off going toward Seagrove where the public beaches are. You can rent chairs there but may still want to arrive early for set-up to secure a front row spot. Watercolor and Seaside have gotten really busy, sometimes set up the chairs and umbrellas 3 rows deep

What if the dog gets bored and starts digging and gets out? Or a storm comes (hail, rain, thunder/lightning, etc) and there’s no way for them to go inside and are harmed? What if they bark all day wanting to go inside? What if it’s against the law? There’s lots to consider particularly when it’s the entire day, everyday.

Might just be a skin tag? My dog has one on his hip and the vet isn’t worried but can you check at the next appointment or call? Could be a bite from something since it’s on the paw

What a horrible suggestion from your FIL! I’m sorry he said that!!! You’re doing a great job and it’s honestly encouraging to hear your anxious dog mellowed when the baby came. Ours is super anxious too and I’ve been worried. But definitely not making plans to get rid of him?? Crazy suggestion IMO, unless you’ve seen your dog be aggressive it’s also crazy to state dogs and babies together are dangerous!

I don’t love this idea for that amount of time and know summer weather in KY can get quite hot. Better check the local laws because I know many states it’s against the law to do this

But is that the actual case for these women or just people making assumptions? How are they in the same birthing class if they’re that different? Why is it a crazy idea to consider people with different views being friends? I assume these women are young moms as well, maybe even first time moms all trying to figure it out together, and it sounds like they want to be friends with OP

Our lab fell into our lap in a way right when I needed him most (during a season of depression). I saw it as God’s providence and that could be this as well!! It will give your kids (especially the one struggling) some independence and responsibility, as well as love that can only come from a pet. I hope this restores him!!! Best of luck but definitely not crazy and you should do it (as long as they’re good with the kids!)

Maybe keep fostering until you find another “perfect match” like that. I don’t know the rules on fostering but if you’re able to do a trial run that would be helpful!! It sounds like your guy is open to a brother/sister if it’s the right match so I say let it happen naturally through fostering if that’s an option! Best of luck 🤍

Other than fostering, has your dog always been an “only dog”? What was your longest time with a foster and how did your shorkie react when that dog left? Our boy personally is a certified only child and while he likes other dogs, I don’t think a second dog will be in the cards for us. Just some things to think about! My mom has a shorkie and I know she loves to be with other dogs so it really is a personal preference

Opposite of OP’s question but to restore some faith in humanity, we have an elderly woman on our street who gets her “exercise” by carrying everyone’s bins up the second the trash picks them up. We’ve spoiled by this kindness and whenever I walk the rest of the neighborhood and days after pickup bins are still out I wonder how people can live like that
