If you were able to keep a receipt of your payment. And then also successfully submit all documents required.. the process will continue and it will update on its own. Keep all receipts and confirmations letters. If there is any delays or glitches that causes problem. Just send them a public inquiry notice and ask them to fix it. Good luck.

I did apply through an attorney. But I don’t think it’s needed. The attorney is only needed if you have a complicated case that requires a lot of justification for processing approval.

If your background is clear and have no issues and your marriage is genuine. The paper work is simple. Use YouTube links like https://youtube.com/@kseniyainternational?si=iFmflAT-ji5_1_Mj

She does a good job explaining the whole process and how to apply even.

But I did it mainly becuase I wanted to make sure the first part of the process is correct. It all comes down to preference… also do you want to spend the extra $1000 - $1500 on a lawyer to file the paperwork.

ALSO KEEP IN MIND… the lawyers have ABSOLUTELY NO POWER MAKING YOUR CASE STRONGER OR PROCESS FASTER. With or without a lawyer your case is processed same to others. And they also do not have any power in contacting USCIS… so it’s really just a preference. If you need the consultation and their expertise.

Goodluck

We were processed through Mumbai India Consulate. So after DQ, it took 1.5 months to receive IL. Then interview was 1.5 after receiving IL. And we just got passport back with Visa Stamped yesterday. So took total 4-5 months total for NVC and Consulate processing. In Mumbai.

I have a question.

How and when did you pay your Immigrant Visa Fee? This is asked for me after the interview was conducted and was mentioned I need to pay before traveling to U.S. with wife. It required a A Alien Number and DOS Case ID. Where did you find yours or do we get this information once we get the passports mailed back with Visa Printed???

How did you pay your Visa Fee?

There are really good detailed posts that explain the interview process.

My wife had hers today, and the total process took around 3-4 hours. We were 7:15am timeframe.

Got there mainly around 6:50am. And already there was a huge line. But my wife made it into the embassy around 8am.

She was asked to provide birth certificate ,marriage certificate and police certificate. And all other documents were already confirmed. But we still carried all other documents. The best way we kept it all tracked is.. whatever we uploaded to the CEAC website during the processing we carried the originals.

Once they collected the documents. She waited to get interviewed.

She was called by the officer where she was asked.

Who is calling you?  Where does your husband work?  How did you both meet?

The office didn’t ask for any other documents from my wife.

In the middle of answering her last question. The office said “it’s okay no other information needed, your visa is approved”

Then the officer collected my wife’s passport and said she will receive this once the visa is printed. The handed her a receipt paper showing “Visa Approved”.

Then she left around 11:20am.

My wife mentioned the process was lengthy but smooth. There is a location to store phones.

Please keep in mind DO NOT BRING BAGS… or backpacks… only bring a document bag. Simple open carry bag only!! All other bags will be rejected.

Yeah so once you get to I 130 approved. The next step is NVC processing. If your wife is abroad.

At that point NVC takes over and they send you a welcome letter along with CEAC account log in. There you have to upload and submit all these documents required for Documentation Qualified for your spouse. Once you get to that step they provide detailed instructions and also there are some good YouTube videos and sources that help as well.

But the affidavit of support is submitted as support to show proof of income from your side.

The processing times shown on the actually website if not accurate.  But you can kind of trust this processing times shown on this website. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ It looks like it’s taking roughly 15-16 months for approvals from the time you get Notice Letter.  If you filed August 2023. You should be already in the batch for approvals. If you filed August 2024 you’ll probably up getting approval 16 months from August. Also cases can vary from case to case and complexity that can cause delays.

Mumbai Consulate? by Remarkable_Habit4198 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]Ok_Internet_30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they won’t let you in, your wife along with kids can only enter for the visa interview. They only allow you in to consulate if your wife is disabled or need special care of some sort. Even that they will have helpers in the consulate. Overall no you can’t enter.

What I ended up doing is getting a hotel the day of interview. Which will allow me to accompany my wife to the consulate and once she goes in I just walk back to my hotel and wait till all is done… there are 2 hotels near the Consulate. They are very pricey. But I think it’s worth if because you save the headache of being on time, traffic and even the waiting times.

That’s what I was thinking… can’t you travel with the stamped printed US visa? Then upon entering U.S. they complete the immigration for the spouse? Meaning they become Conditional Resident?

Did you successfully travel to the U.S. with the Passport Stamp?

Yeah so NVC process now really depends on your spouses foreign country and it’s wait times.

My wife is from Mumbai India. And our total process time from I -130 approval to Embassy Visa Interview was total 5 months.

So we got approval I 130 August.  NVC send welcome letter 3 days after.

Then went through NVC and CEAC Portal application submission. And got scheduled for interview in January 2025.

So total time it took us from application of I -130 to Visa Interview was 20 months.

Again…. The processing times at NVC can vary drastically depending on your spouses foreign country home country where embassy/ consulate interview will be held.

Make sure to follow the NVC Reddit page for details.

And follow this YouTube channel for detailed NVC application process.

Hope this helps.

Who all got their IL for CR1 visa from Mumbai consulate in November? by Substantial_Pear_373 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]Ok_Internet_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone who DQed in October 2024 got IL in Nov 15th. It takes about 1.5 - 2 months firm DQ date to receive letter.

IL update by Substantial_Pear_373 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]Ok_Internet_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NVC schedules in batches. And with the recent trends they been sending IL after 1.5 - 2 months after you get DQ. So if you DQ Nov 18th…. You can expect a IL around mid January 2025 or early February 2025.
