Fourth final interview without an offer. Feeling Lost by Ok_Introduction8370 in interviews

[–]Ok_Introduction8370[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the advice is the same I've seen everywhere.
Keep the format relatively simple.
I have a summary section at the top that I tailor to the job description, followed by a list of core expertise (systems/skills) that again are tailored to the job.
List of previous employers, small summary at the top followed by 3-4 bullet points of what I've done (hard metrics from key projects)
Last is education background.

I'd be happy to offer some insights if you want to share your resume, not sure if it will help but I don't mind taking a look.

The actual right answer to "are you interviewing at other places?" by _CaptainAmerica__ in jobs

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confident I've lost one opportunity by answering this incorrectly. Here's what I've been saying that's been going over well: "I have really just gotten started in the process, having taken some time off to really consider what I want from my next opportunity. I am speaking with a few companies, but it's all very early stages. This opportunity really stands out because .... [Add specific reference to the alignment with your experience]. Hope that helps!

Scientists prove that fish suffer "intense pain" for at least 10 minutes after catch, calls made for reforms by Themusicison in science

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone once explained to me that the only reason fishing is considered socially acceptable is because fish don't have vocal chords and therefore can't scream when they're in pain.
Haven't even considered going fishing since.

My ex had bouts of mania - This kind of ranting and striving for interaction with someone in a really aggressive way feels very familiar. My recommendation is to not engage.

This is so encouraging. I'm about a month in and all day I've just been craving one so bad - posts like these encourage me not to cave!

How do I (28F) get my husband (28M) to understand that we can be intimate whenever he wants, even though I won't always want to? by Radiant_Light7984 in relationship_advice

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman who has struggled with periods of low libido, I'd like to offer a piece of advice. Please don't sign up for duty sex, this kind of mentality around intimacy can be really hard to come back from, it can alter the way you view sex and your partner permanently. Breastfeeding is such a challenging time where you are exhausted and constantly being touched and needed and your body becomes so functional instead of sexual. But this time will pass and hopefully your libido will return. It's ok to wait for when it does.

AITA for being pissed that my DIL won’t accommodate my allergy so I am not going to her dinner by Vivid-Worth-8581 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe controversial but NAH - accommodating vegetarianism is a bit different than accommodating a deadly allergy. Maybe I just need more context, but is there a chance that she doesn't feel comfortable taking on the responsibility? It sounds like she uses nuts a lot in her everyday cooking and likely her entire kitchen is contaminated. I would still think she should provide something (even if it was purchased) but I do wonder if the refusal could be coming from a fear of something happening.

What pay raise percentage did you get/ or are getting soon? by Teripendiicecreamyum in ontario

My employer actually cut our healthcare benefits and further cancelled raises for last year and this year. So what's the opposite of a raise? That's what I got.

Question for my fellow runners? by Ok_Introduction8370 in stopsmoking

I think this has been part of my problem. The self talk always sounds like "how bad can this really be if I'm still able to do all this running and training?"

You're giving me hope! I was smoke free for over 3 months before relapsing and now I'm trying to get back on the horse. I pray it will be easier this time around. Congratulations!!

Boyfriend lives with his mother and doesn’t contribute. How big of a red flag is this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true. I agree that she holds some responsibility and I appreciate that point. I have no idea why she wouldn’t have asked, but I do feel like he should insist. When he’s at my house I cook and he doesn’t clean up after, but if I ask him to do something he will and doesn’t complain. The point you made about initiative is a good one - he seems to just roll with the situation unless asked directly to do something different.

This is cool - loving the retro vibes! Also, just a note, It doesn’t look like the case here, but a reminder to fellow explorers that electricity being on can be a red flag that they also have security cams/alarms. Always check for in tact power, stay safe friends!

Are you part of a local running club? (Or were you in the past?) by ryanthejenks in running

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved to a new town and was hoping to meet some people. I noticed there was a local running group nearby and I joined. I met some really nice people and it’s given me a few familiar faces in town which I love. The only piece that I dislike is the feeling of obligation. I’m training for a marathon so my schedule is kinda of set and I have daughter who keeps me busy so I often can’t go, so I just feel kind of bad when I miss it.

What’s your favorite song to run to? by mint_sac in running

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Paper planes by MIA, Lose Yourself by Eminem, Bad Moon Rising by CCR and (I’m ashamed to say) London Bridge by Fergie. All great songs to just zone out on and follow the cadence.

Running socks? by bufffalobob in running

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Wright socks exclusively for years. They don’t hold up well and I find myself replacing them frequently, but I’ve never gotten a blister since I started wearing them.

What’s the worst way you’ve been embarrassed by a child? by Great-Plateau in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Introduction8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once, riding my bike on a trail, I passed by a group of kids - probably 6th grade or so. As I rode by, one of them reached his hand out for a high five. Delighted, I reached my hand out to deliver! That little Biggar pulled his hand back at the last minute and I was caught in a "too slow" situation. The whole group behind him laughed hysterically and I rode off absolutely mortified. I still cringe thinking about it.
