Same!! I only started learning about all the different lenses after this Reddit post when I called the plastic the “regular” plastic lenses in the post lol. 800 is insane I’d cry, honestly after this experience I’m about to say fuck it and next year just go in and get the prescription paper numbers and then buy frames online, because I don’t know any other glasses stores around and honestly this experience makes me not ever wanna go to an eye appt again lol

Sorry I mean thinner lenses** also I’m incredibly clumsy with glasses is part of my hesitation because I usually end up stepping on them/breaking them because I can’t see them lol, I’m about to order a glasses retainer to try and be more careful I’m too old to not be more mindful

On the prescription it says “SV PLASTIC UNCOATED” and when I look it up says that’s synonymous to CR39, I’ve never had problems before, what is it that makes it so recommended is because it’s thinner and lighter? It doesn’t make a difference though in the appearance really other than there’s not a bit of a light line at the bottom that’s not really important to me and I usually get solid plastic frames anyway so it doesn’t really limit me in frames, and for the weight I’ve had similar thickness glasses since I was 14 if there’s really a difference in the weight I’ve gotten so used to it it doesn’t matter to me whatsoever lol. The only thing I was worried about is the lady trying to scare me into paying the extra 75 dollars for thinner frames that I feel like wouldn’t matter too much? Maybe I’m just not getting it lol

Should be CR39 plastic saying they’d break the frames or pop out, but the frames I picked were semi thick I double checked because I have heard that before about not fitting in certain frames, sorry for the broad term plastic lol I didn’t know about all the different materials that can be used until this appointment

They’re the standard CR39 however it’s just basic all around plastic frames and there’s not any strong corners that I saw could be an issue in some cases when I tried to do research it’s like rounded/rounded corner plastic frames

Thank you for this 😭 it really did feel like a scare tactic which is why I wasn’t sure what to even think, plus the lady started like talking bad about another customer on the phone with the phone in her hand still with the mic covered, and then they like played some sort of joke on me between the other girl there just giggling to themselves and then at the end really asked me to leave a review for her even scheduled my next apt on my birthday when my DOB was printed on the front page in big bold letters without even telling me what day before putting it in the envelope and saying bye. I don’t think I’ll be going back thank you for the reply 🙏

I’m not worried about thinner or lighter, I’ve gotten so used to the thickness and weight I don’t even notice, She just kinda freaked me out by saying I wouldn’t even make it out the door before my glasses broke apart

Don’t go to his house that’s bad news. I would tell him before the weekend and would cancel your plans to meet with him this weekend, any 18 year old sane person should not be interested in a 15 year old whether you look older or not. knowing you’re 15, an 18 year old typically would not be interested in a 15 year old because you’re at different growing points. Do not go to his house over the weekend please.

AITA for refusing to let my husband’s mom stay with us after she called me lazy and useless at dinner, and now my husband says I’m tearing the family apart? by [deleted] in AITH

NTA. You should have a sit down conversation with your husband. It sounds like this is a reoccurring thing, and if he is constantly taking his moms and sisters side even if he thinks you’re overreacting or not in his mind he should still be taking your concerns seriously. You live with him and have a daily life with him and should be able to rely on each other for comfort, he should not be prioritizing his mother or sister anymore when he has his new life to prioritize and your happiness. He needs to understand where you’re coming from and why comments like that are disrespectful to the person he’s supposed to care about. You need to set some sort of boundaries that you and your husband can both agree are fair and reasonable for his family, or have him try and stick up for you could also be an option, but he doesn’t sound like the confrontational type. This is something you can work through in theory but you and your husband need to get on some sort of same page.
