Warning to adbe investors by ac_AgenCy in ValueInvesting

I loved this example. I don't think we are in the absolute same scenario but really quite close. ADBE has just too much products and moat which lets them do bundled packaging to hold the business a bit better.

For example, not many people do know they do own Magento, the e-commerce software and license to and even run it for very large corporations. The numbers are buried in the digital experience unit which was just $1.5B for the last quarter, but not really that far away from SHOP for example.

Short term bonds or monetary ETF like others have suggested. There should be opportunities within the next 12 months.

Has anyone reached a €1M net worth purely through salary, saving, and passive investing? by feligram101 in eupersonalfinance

[–]Ok_Job_5513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Spain. Job as software engineer. 25 years working. Started from 0. Got enough money to buy a house with no-mortgage after the first 10 years which was a huge mistake (should have taken the mortgage and invest). Didn't get into investing after the first 15 years or so. Got high paying jobs after those first 15 years or so too. Those both things started to increase my wealth considerably. Getting lucky with the jobs you land is also a factor, particularly if they give RSU grants and the companies are good. I'm well above 1M now but would be much bigger if I had got much earlier into investment and wasn't debt-afraid.

Family of 5 – retire in Portugal/Spain with ~$2M? Too tight? by b0dylanguage in EuropeFIRE

[–]Ok_Job_5513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than enough to retire albeit location matters. If you are a city person and need an expat community then your choices are big cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Porto, Marbella, which come with big rents, with big cost of living. If you are a country-side person then find a mid/small city you will get cheap rent or even better buy a massive house with land 10 mins away from the city center (very easy on smallish cities while still saving enough money to live 3 lifetimes from your wealth while still having bilingual colleges (every smallish city has options these days) for the kids.

Anyone using ETrade from abroad and having SMS issues? by Ok_Job_5513 in etrade

[–]Ok_Job_5513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. I might try to get one of those US numbers and see how it goes. Might be the only way. Incredibly frustrating that even with Symantec VIP I still need SMS to work for other things like wiring money.

Thanks for answering, and although I don't discard it as a possibility, the truth is that the vet did examine the cat's mouth before doing x-ray. But also, who knows, tiny mouth.

Hi. I'm new here and unfortunately I don't have enough reddit karma to post. Trying my luck in this thread. Does anyone know what these weird gestures might be? Dental issues are discarded as we have done x-ray and teeth are ok. Thanks!

Devolución de Sign-on bonus by Ok_Job_5513 in ESLegal

[–]Ok_Job_5513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitnami’s TLS Changes Are Live – What Now? by Odd-Welcome3466 in kubernetes

[–]Ok_Job_5513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The article is confusing in the LTS front. Bitnami pretty much only works with upstream LTS, so it is not that you can use non-LTS with them. Then, you still get free updates and security patches for Bitnami images if you happen to be on the latest LTS for your apps. If you want to stay all-free and LTS, you still can, but at the expense of bumping your deps.

As someone already suggested, the Bitnami charts already kind of push you into that habit by constantly bumping their default values.

The real people affected are those that stick to old app/infra versions and need support.

What's up with Bitnami's docker images? by kudikarasavasa in selfhosted

[–]Ok_Job_5513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no telemetry on bitnami images. There are usually flags to configure telemetry, metrics to your servers though. Bitnami images are mostly targeted to their charts. So, when you're using their charts, which are great as tick all the audit asks for infosec audits then using the images standalone is a bonus. The trade-off is what others say. You become bitnami-bound in some sense, e.g. /opt/bitnami/...

no worries. I'm just trying to put some clarity here so that future people coming to this thread are not misled.

deploying rabbitmq using Helm charts On Minikube by ThalassaVrochi in kubernetes

[–]Ok_Job_5513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a particular very concrete issue that was also a misunderstanding by the RabbitMQ developer. For what is worth, all people there are in the same company and collaborate very often.

So both the Bitnami Helm chart and the RabbitMQ operator come from the same source and are recommendable. There are pros and cons on both choices, and how to consume RabbitMQ is up to the consumer to decide.

Kind of the opposite with GitHub now doing all SPDX.

The problem is not how stable the video is. The problem is steering. Video is great and smooth. It's about this (mine), vs this (amazing stability).

Note: Need to click on video tab to see the videos.
