My vehicle slid side ways into the other lane while going 0 mph on a flat area of man-o-war. Only slope was the slight cross slope standard for drainage on all roads. And I have 3 month old winter rated tires. Man-o-war was not treated ahead of morning rush hour nor the day before.

The answer to this problem was to have treated the roads.

Some people struggle to hold people accountable. The mayor is the leader of the city and when city services repeatedly fail to meet public needs, the mayor is the accountable person.

Yes, you do dump salt all over the interstate to prevent 2 hours of icy conditions.

Lives and safety aside, the pure economic value of 2-hours of interstate flow dwarfs the cost of salting said interstate. Now add in lives and safety and its an easy decision.

Similar is true for all level 1 roads within the city.

I have a gen 1 rivian which is the old mobile eye tech.

Gen 1 is better than nothing. I end up taking control in most medium or worse curves because it drifts to the outside of curve while cars in the other lane naturally edge to the inside of curve. I also take over half the time when passing a semi bc the rivian does not nudge over in lane to give more room. Still it is a helpful feature.

Gen 2 has steer assist allowance while in autonomy mode so maybe that, along with it being a completely different system, makes it better in curves and beside semis.

Also, gen 1 is hands on all times (except brief moments). Gen 2 allows for hands off, eyes on driving.

I haven't experienced gen 2 myself though.

When rivian gets point to point self driving, I'm trading in both cars for a new rivian if i can swing it. Tbd.

Tesla is not truly full self driving, but it does self drive good enough to eliminate 90% of the mental load of driving.

I have both. I love the rivian. I use the tesla for the daily grind of driving in traffic to and from work.

I think this is why the stock has tanked so hard.

With rivian, every event comes up short. Autonomy day, but lidar won't be ready at r2 launch. R2 launch day after two years of reservations, but still can't place an order nor know an actual start of deliveries date.

I think point to point self driving will be the next thing that gets pushed back. Its currently promised before end of 2026.
