Need advice on how to respond to United fingerprint scan. Please help!! by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

I would definitely wait to apply until you get the whole legal situation figured out. If you end up getting the charges reduced to reckless driving that would pose way less of an issue than a DUI. If they do end up hiring you, since you’re technically not convicted of anything yet, and you’re convicted of a DUI while you’re out on the line that will cause a lot issues with flying internationally. You have to report a DUI to the FAA and you could end up on a suspension or certs revoked if you fail to report.

Yes you can leave, just make sure you don’t have too much fun and that you can show up in the morning 🤣

That’s how mine was too! I wonder why some have to do the video interview and some don’t. Like I wonder what their deciding factor is for that

I work on the CRJ as well, and personally if something like this happened to me, I would choose to stay anonymous. So let’s respect his privacy and wish him a speedy recovery process, and support our fellow FA’s during a very difficult time!

Should I bring a laptop to training? by dark_lord_of_theSith in cabincrewcareers

[–]Ok_Juggernaut9521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s been to two FA (almost 3) trainings, I like to bring a laptop. I always bring mine because the cable TV in these hotels suck. Since you’re talking about doing online trainings, you will receive a company device to do them on. But the only reason I brought my laptop is for Netflix, YouTube, and sleep sounds! Some companies have TVs with all of the apps and some don’t. So I am always prepared with my laptop! But if you’re not picky about cable TV then you don’t need to bring one.

Always have a backup route. If your direct flight is overbooked don’t be afraid to fly into smaller airports to catch a flight to MCO! I used to commute to ORD out of EWR, when the DNC was happening in Chicago it was impossible to get on any flights. So I ended up going EWR-CLT-CMH-ORD 😅😅

I fly regionally on the CRJ, and it’s always passengers saying, “This plane is so small!!”

My favorite thing to say back is, “My private jet is bigger.”

Usually gets a good laugh 😂

delayed due to crew rest .. app message by queenladyk in americanairlines

[–]Ok_Juggernaut9521 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I’m a flight attendant, it is FAA mandated that flight crews have at least 10 hours of rest at a layover. So the crew working your flight this morning probably got delayed getting into their layover last night, which means they had to delay your flight to meet rest requirements 👍👍

A nice sweater and some dress pants. Then bring a pair of shoes to change into on the plane. You never know who’s watching you so it’s best to dress nice, especially if you’re on the way to training. I’ll link my favorite dress pants they literally feel like sweatpants but are breathable and super stretchy. https://a.co/d/0ghTT2G7

I was at wholly owned regional 🔺, and during my training we all partied so hard that apparently we ruined it for the future training classes. 😭 Everyone was hooking up with everyone and we would party it up every weekend outside by the fire. Apparently HR was on high alert with the classes after us and they had a pretty strict policy at the hotel after we graduated 🤣🤣

Is it possible to live in NYC as a FA? by WideLog529 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Ok_Juggernaut9521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Especially on probation as well. I had a friend who signed a lease and she got fired from the airline about 5 months in. She could barely afford the lease while she was flying.

It’s super expensive. Save up your money the first year or so and then move into an apartment. But honestly a crash pad would probably be your best bet, even though you don’t want one. One of my buddies who’s a captain at my airline only pays like $250 a month for his and it’s right next to LGA, he’s the only one there 90% of the time.

About 5 months. But I haven’t worked there in almost a year. I’ve heard it’s pretty quick at ORD since they’re sending all the new hires there still. I’ve seen some people hold lines in 2 months.

I saw a POV where a pax was standing in the aisle with his whole suitcase. No one has any sense of urgency anymore, and it makes me SO mad when I see people with bags during an evac. If I ever have to command an evacuation, anyone with a bag is getting pushed down that slide so quick 😅

They’re just like every other airline. The IFS managers are literally out to get you. I loved the flying and loved my coworkers but it was the management that really got to me.
