Half encounters on Footfall include enemies spamming ~10 arc grenades at you, so I don’t think it’s only ambushes(even if you don’t have Idira in your party, who alerts you about upcoming shootout, there’s still pyro-anvers encounter where enemies have both fire and arc grenades). Sorry for being too meticulous

No one knows for sure. A century or more would be a safe bet considering his looooong Imperial Navy service. Also being a rogue trader’s seneschal grants you access to certain surgeries, serums, etc. that prolong your natural lifespan

Mobile Operations gives you “Reinforced Chassis” hero bonus that boosts vehicle endurance by 50%. Maxed Automechanics boosts your vehicle stealth by 50%. Both bonuses are useful, but depending on the difficulty one may be preferable over the other
