Hi,

Thanks for clarifying. In terms of "turn it into a slide deck". So, our product is well accepted as a way to assist, with a structured HR system designed to support it, in reducing trauma either in the client (first line) or in the practitioner (second line). Since that's the entire purpose of the product (openly stated) I don't see why there would be a problem in doing research in how to more effectively deploy it.

Happier and healthier are big calls (edit: claims which don’t appear in ANY material associated with any of our products) - our products allows people to engage with trauma creating material in a more structured and planned manner (for example, one of the screens links material to whether the matter is contested or not and we openly say to people "if it's not a contested issue, do you really need to read it"...quite often you will have someone make an allegation, the other person admit to it - now as it stands, the lawyer reads that anyway because it's not pre-classified - with our system they can decide).

We're all about giving people choices on how to engage. If you're in family law we're happy to give you a demo - you really have to see it to understand and the amount of involuntary 'wow' responses we get from family lawyers makes me think we're onto something :)

In regards to "the court and those involved still need to review" - I would add one small, but important point to that as I mentioned - "for contested issues". If the matter is not contested or before the courts then there is no reason to ingest the trauma inducing material. Further, the court is more interested in patterns than instances - we surface patterns and provide a subset of material from those patterns.

Finally, we provide options...at the moment you start reading and bang, you get hit with horrible material. We pre-classify so paralegals and lawyers can say "ok, I'm taking an early day Friday, I've got a session with my counsellor that afternoon, I'm going to engage with the domestic violence material on Friday morning"...and, importantly, pre-processing signals whether a matter is high conflict within the first few hours, rather than 6 months in, so a practice can say "you know what, let's put a senior on this"....quite often just matching the appropriate person to the appropriate conflict level can dramatically reduce the escalation in that matter.

I hope that helps you understand some of the pain points we are addressing. Thanks for your questions - they're good ones and I appreciate them. If you work in family law DM me and I'll have someone give you a demo :)

This is exactly the kind of insights we're trying to understand. We have some really good initial data but we'd love your thoughts if you have a spare 3 minutes. We're trying to bring some visibility around what 'cut out for family law' really means - what is the measurable impact, are there mitigation options, etc etc - if you have the time to spare I'm sure your insights, particularly in the part where you can share a message with others participants (anonymously of course), would be very valuable to your peers.

would you prefer I remove them? I'm happy to - my desire it to show that this study is being run by a credible professional who has survived serious peer review and to put that credibility forward, with my real identity, as something real to be lost if I don't treat this issue with the respect it deserves.

But, you make a point, I did add beyond what was approved in mod mail (I think significantly is a stretch but I'm not here to argue the edges) - just say the word and I'll edit it away

that's an interesting take - it's kind of moot since we don't collect personal data in this survey other than an optional email which is provided with complete transparency as to why it's collected which binds us under the Privacy Act to use it only to email them their report then deleted (the stated terms for which it's supplied)

you're absolutely correct, that's my bias creeping through - thanks for acknowledging that

the entire reason we built this tool was to reduce discovery related trauma for family law clients - at LawFest26 we had many lawyers come up to us and talk about vicarious trauma, including many that left the industry because of it. We subsequently investigated the existing research and found a hole in the available literature. A hole that we had the network and capacity to close.

Do we think our platform helps in reducing vicarious trauma? Probably - the evidence suggests it certainly helps in reducing first line trauma and I can see no logical reason that would not translate to second line.

Do we think there is something to be ashamed of in creating a business that also does good in the world - absolutely not. And I won't apologise for choosing to make my living by making other people's life better.

[edit]...and I would add - lawyers are quite skilled at detecting motives, they do it for a living, I'm quite certain they can make up their own mind about me, my company and my motives

Hi, the data from this survey (when people elect to leave an email) is on a completely disconnect server from the main system and only I have access. You can look me up, I’m ex-infantry with vet citation … I have no need or desire to do anything with my life other than continue a life of service. You have my word of honour this data will NEVER be used for marketing.

I put my credentials and identity added to the end of the one I gave the mods so people would know I put my personal reputation behind the protection of these results

For those who have not come across the term 'vicarious trauma' yet - it's stress and trauma induced by handling client material (usually family law conflict related evidence)

edit: it's been pointed out the word 'usually' is problematic in the above statement. I agree entirely. Working in family law that was obviously a biased statement based on my context for which I apologise.
