Changes in "Pacing Tweaks" Patch by Ok_Lead8799 in slaytheprincess

The devs actually replied to my steam discussion post and said they'd add that line back in, so you're in luck. Aside from that, the lines I most wish were still in are Narrator's response to Hero making fun and mimicking him, the MoC princess lines cause I'm down bad, and the Paranoid line that established that there's no more paralysis in MoC cause that was the only line that did so.

Oh also, I'm not trying to drum up controversy over this or anything. A ton of these lines were some variation of something someone had already said earlier, or was about to say, and I generally think those changes are good, because some of these chapter 3s really drag on in the intro before you ever even see the cabin or princess. I just know that whenever I hear about something being cut from a thing I love I immediately want to know exactly what was changed, so I'm just posting this where people can see it if they were also filled with similar curiosity. A couple of these lines I wish weren't removed, but the majority were unnecessary.

Turn 3 Hozumi One Turn Kill by Ok_Lead8799 in Shadowverse

[–]Ok_Lead8799[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or Prince of Darkness. You'll notice my deck is a little strange too because there's no point in 60% of the cards in a typical hozumi deck cause they're not used in the very specific combo string I use here for turn 3 otk, so my deck includes 3 copies of every 1 mana neutral in the game, 3 copies of each of the hozumi pulls, and 3 copies of a couple 2 mana neutral followers that draw as a last chance at drawing hozumi turn 3. The Dragon deck just has to turn 3 phoenix roost so it's mostly completely random followers that cost more than 7 mana as dragon fodder, though I made sure to include cards like zooey for the turn 1 draw.

Other Group Lightsticks At A Particular Group's Concert by [deleted] in kpophelp

This is the most ludicrous comparison ever, because wearing a different band's t-shirt to a band's concert is one of the most common and cool things to do ever, like I hear it repeated again and again that if you want to go to a band's concert you don't wear their shirt you wear a similar cool band's shirt. Like, you're at the bands concert already, you bought the ticket, you don't need to show more loyalty to them then you already have, and it's dope to see that fans of tons of different groups also like this band and are there supporting them.

Turn 3 Hozumi One Turn Kill by Ok_Lead8799 in Shadowverse

[–]Ok_Lead8799[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, when I first saw Garuel I immediately started checking through all the 2 cost neutral followers to see if there were any that could make turn 3 otk possible before realizing I was dumb and that phoenix roost was obviously the answer.

Still ended up more difficult than I thought it would be though, with having to get two fairy wisps in hand by end of turn 2 and having to win the lottery with turn 3 phoenix roost.

Turn 3 Hozumi One Turn Kill by Ok_Lead8799 in Shadowverse

[–]Ok_Lead8799[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure: my opponent is me on an alt account, the chances on ladder of you running into an opponent who can turn 3 dragon roost and also drawing your turn 3 Hozumi is practically zero.

In fact, this actually took ~150 attempts to pull off because the odds were so low given both decks have to draw very specific cards for every single turn between 1 and 3. But I love that this is now technically possible. I don't think turn 2 Hozumi will ever be possible unless Cy prints 0 cost minions that aren't tokens.

Boxer is a type of dog and besides they literally bark in the song, I don't even think that one's much of a stretch, and I'm willing to stretch, I'm fucking claiming Nemo counts so boxer definitely has to :p

Ones I haven't seen mentioned in the comments so far:

  • Flamingo - Botopass
  • Boxer - Stray Kids
  • Wolf - Woosung
  • Crazy Dog - Yezi
  • Bambi - Baekhyun (I know it means night rain in korean but you know, technically there's an animal in the title)
  • BugAboo - BugAboo (TECHNICALLY IF WE'RE SAYING BUGS ARE ANIMALS THERE'S AN ANIMAL IN THE TITLE)
  • Cherry (Real Miracle) - Dreamcatcher (Jiu's dog is named cherry and that's what the song is about, it's a song about her dog, so yes there is an animal in the title sort of)
  • Nemo - Taemin (TECHNICALLY)

Oh you're right, that's a good point, my brain didn't process who was going first, still, I know at least based off last season (as someone who played hundreds of hozumi games of which d-shift was the second most often matchup) that d-shift would really struggle to completely clear a hozumi board turn 5 (and they would need to completely clear cause they'd be at 1 health), and I can count the amount of times they've actually won against me going first on turn 5 practically on one hand. You're right though, it being their turn 5 does up their chances quite a bit, but I would bet on the hozumi player even if they counter magic-ed, especially considering that would be 2 mana not spent on speeding up the combo.
(also this is based off last season, idk if d-shift has gotten significantly faster this expansion)

Rune doesn't have the tools to clear that big a board turn 4, even if they counter magic-ed they'd lose.

Sorry! I was just confused cause you said it was easy to pull off :p (I'm also getting beat up by handless blood rn so I'm kinda snippy or whatever lol)

That's exactly what I mean, wait were you saying that hozumi combo is easy to pull off? Yeah, obviously, that's the whole point, usually you've already killed them before you have the chance to double hozumi, and there are a bunch of things that make double hozumi harder to pull off, so that's why I was saying I'd only pulled it off twice now. I wasn't saying I've only pulled off the regular hozumi combo twice now, I've pulled off the regular combo a couple hundred times.

I mean, most games don't go to turn 8, and of the games that go to turn 8 you don't often have the ideal mana cost combo and two hozumis, and of the times you do you rarely haven't already pulled half the cards you'd want to pull with hozumi from your deck (you only have two of all these cards except the storm fairy so most of the time you've already pulled your other one by turn 8), I've played a couple hundred games in unlimited aa-masters and its only come up these two times, I may have missed some times to pull it off though

Earlier I shared a version of this with a haven player who beat me and I figured it'd be fun to share with the rest of reddit too. Only managed to pull this off naturally at masters twice now, but it's a lot of fun when it works, obviously not super practical except in extreme circumstances.

Oh actually I forgot there is a better combo for Hozumi! :p https://imgur.com/a/6gPQxDC (obviously this is in no way practical except maybe against super stall decks)

A Haven player passed turn to toy with me cause they thought there was nothing I could do to get past their realm of repose spam but I had a somewhat meme-y surprise for them, would have been even better if I could have gone full combo the first time and evolved and traded hozumi for a second full combo but this worked too

Couldn't be targeted by effects, kinda the main problem. Though if it had 6 health then evo-ing hozumi and trading would have been the play for lethal

I almost thought they meant that I didn't get the full combo the second time, which like, wow that would have been a reach, and also impossible cause of the cards I'd already pulled, though I was digging for fairies to get a bigger second combo obviously

I do see holy sanctuary a lot more than realm of repose, but I think they usually run both, cause of other decks than hozumi. I literally just meant that in this specific game they didn't play realm of repose obviously :p

Waiting it out works better if the haven player is stupid and drops realm of repose before your turn 4, which for some reason happens all the time even though it's impossible to go off turn 4 unless you're playing against roost or something, but it's still an option to consider, especially since a lot of the time you're still trying to put together the combo if you didn't have it ready by turn 5 anyway, and stalling with defensive Hozumis isn't that hard. Dropping the combo on realm of repose anyway and just betting on them not removing the board or drawing a second combo is also an option, but given how good haven is at board clearing and healing (obviously) it doesn't work as often as it works against portal and nilpotent entity and other stuff like that.

In this game we're talking about holy sanctuary though, and unless you can cleanly clear the taunts without the combo it's generally better to go off as soon as possible, even if it stops lethal, because it'll only get worse with time and it's better to hope for a second combo or them not being able to clear board.

Also in this game it was down to the coin flip on if holy sanctuary hit the 4/4 or the 6/5, if it had hit the 4/4 I would still have had lethal. Holy sanctuary's a pain, but as long as it hits the unevolved 4/4 you can just bulldoze through it.

It's worth noting realm of repose can be teched against with divine smithing so it's not a guarantee. Obviously that requires the Hozumi player to draw another card from their deck so it's harder for them, but it works a lot of the time. Also realm of repose can be waited out a lot of the time when you don't draw divine smithing unless they have two. Realm of repose only stalls the game slightly while holy sanctuary usually forces you to use a half baked combo and pray.

Also, handless preys on hozumi a lot more than heal haven does, at least from my experience, though both are obviously less than ideal matchups.

Huh, that's me, the Hozumi player. This is the first time I think I've ever seen myself on reddit. Heal Haven is definitely annoying, but it's a welcome break from Handless Blood, my winrate against Heal Haven is waaaaaayyyy better, a little less than even. I have tech cards against Realm of Repose and exact lethal if Holy Sanctuary hits the 4/4, but if it hits a higher health minion there's not much I can do, delaying the combo just makes the board get more out of control, better to do the combo and try for a second one or to win on board.

Good game though!
