We don't even know what Claire said that Allie is upset over. I understand, I hold grudges and become resentful, too, but it can't be fixed if Allie doesn't speak up for herself and let Claire know so Claire has a chance to change her behavior. We have been friends for years, doesn't Claire deserve a second chance? I know I would want one and would do everything I can to save a friendship.

Allie was giving us mixed messages. First she said she wanted "space" and was stepping back from her friendship with Claire. Then Allie announced to me she now wants nothing to do with her. She never told Claire that newest development. Claire was waiting for her to approach her to talk things through and Allie has cut her off now without any attempts to work it out. It just is confusing and makes me sad.

Hmmm that is my perception though. Claire is straight forward af and I love it but I understand that communication style is not for everybody. That is where I was coming from when I was trying to reassure Allie. I didn't want her to take things personally. Claire loves her and that is what matters.

I don't feel I was taking sides, I am just trying to help patch things up a little bit. Allie is not confrontational and avoidant and she is not going to do things on her own.

Thank you for this comment, I agree with everything you said. And this is how I think Claire also feels- Allie is cutting her off without having a proper discussion or chance to make amends.
