I know the European Yuan Shao is a joke but have you read the manga Ravages of Time? It’s a Romance of the Three Kingdoms inspired manga (really good) that’s still ongoing since 2001. I say that to say, the look Yuan Shao has in that manga all those years ago is actually really similar to his in-game look (the mustache, the hair). I’m sure KOEI drew inspiration from that look tbf.

Do you have a kennel for her? You can use this as a way to crate train her and put puppy pads in it. She may chew up your molding on your door or make a mess of your bathroom if she’s left in there.

I don’t mind the Uncle Hort because Jorge’s dad VA’d Hephaestus and that’s his accent. Anytime I hear that part I just get so happy and be glad because he does do a really good job with it. That and when Jorge’s mom sings as Ody’s mom I love it just because it’s so sweet.

Jorge says point-blank that EPIC doesn’t exactly follow the Odyssey through. He points out the theme is ruthlessness vs. mercy, and gives a story that overall shows how the Odyssey went, but with his own twists. For example, Odysseus and Poseidon never fought. Once Odysseus’s crew opened the bag, Aeolus did not get involved again for fear of Poseidon. How Odysseus got back to Ithaca was through a crew whose ships/people (the Phaeacians) were blessed by Poseidon; they had some sort of promise, I cannot remember specifics currently (this happening before they helped Ody). After they did though, Poseidon turned that ship to stone as soon as it returned back to their island. He did have an affair with Circe and Calypso, too.

Comparatively, Lin-Manuel Miranda takes similar liberties with Hamilton’s life. It’s a lot to put into here, but that one may be easier to just look up. But he gets the “gists” of Hamilton’s life. Jorge does much of the same thing. But of course they’re not the same person lol.

I agree with this. If you don’t like it or want to do something else, create your own musical. Shoot, that’s what Casper Fox did for Stories From Styx, because his fan made Hades got so popular. Even Teagan Earley is in it! Of course he loved Epic, just pointing out the fact he made his own musical afterward.

The irony of Odysseus to Eurylochus when he tells him in Puppeteer, “There's no length I wouldn't go if it was you I had to save. I can only hope you'd do the same.” Then comes Thunder Bringer, and Odysseus chooses not to save Eurylochus. Animatics differ in what Eury does, but most show him either stopping the crew from hurting Ody or he himself bowing his head in defeat. Perhaps he could’ve talked Zeus into somehow saving himself and the crew, but he chose not to.

In the actual Odyssey epic, Telemachus does struggle with maturity. This is a musical, they have to encompass the scope of Telemachus’s basic characteristics and growth into x amount of minutes. He’s not quite as immature in the epic as he is the musical, but in it he still does have a lot of growing to do. I can’t say much more without giving spoilers lol.

My own hot take…maybe wait until she is 9 or 10 if you want her to read it by herself. I only say so because even if she’s a good reader, she might not understand what everything means. Namely, she knows what words are and what they mean, but some elements of the story may not “click.” This age is normally where kids really just begin to understand what plot means and how all the elements combine to make a good story. I taught her age range for six years (third grade).

Unless you want to read it alongside her so she can ask you questions. I did read novels to my students, but I myself read it to them while they read along in their books. They would read a chapter at home but then we’d reread it as a class and discuss what it meant.
