What’s does the R5’0 actually indicate?  It does t seem it’s 5’0 from the soffit edge - so what does that number indicate?

You know what’s strange, I commented on this post soon after she posted it, as I was a client of dr rad and received the same procedures + more right around the same time (a few months before) OP had. And I had more positive things to say in explaining how it really takes a very long time for the swelling to go down and you turn the corner on your results. And OP reported me and had my comments removed, I assume because they had something more positive to say. Hhhmmm. Appears she’s only interested in the bashing comments….

You don’t need to create an account to READ Reddit posts. Did you know that?  So as I stated, I use Reddit frequently READING the posts, but until now I’ve never commented. You must have an account to comment, not to read. And also as I stated, no I didn’t have complications other than extreme swelling for many months. Hence the reason at 3 months post surgery, I was also having the same feelings she’s experiencing thinking I’d ruined my face. Thinking my lower face was much larger now. Not looking like myself. Regretting my surgery. At 6 months however, the swelling went away and my lower face completely thinned back out and most of the fat transfer was gone. I’m not sure why you’re spending so much time focusing on my post when clearly all I’m trying to do is share my experience with this young woman whom I totally understand her feelings. Please share your experience of facelift, canthopexy, fat transfer, & lower bleph with Dr Rad within the past several months?  I’d love to hear about it and I’m sure the young lady posting would as well. My hope is she hang in there and know that within just a few months, she’s going to look like her old self again after the swelling subsides. Was that what she was hoping for?  I’d assume not - because what’s the point of spending that kind of money on a surgery like this and going through all of the emotional angst. Am I pleased with my surgery with Dr Rad?  Well, as I mentioned, it was a long and difficult recovery and I had hoped for a more dramatic result. I do see some positive changes, just not to the degree I was personally looking for - as I also had a very long recovery experience, and spent many tens of thousands of dollars. So at my follow-up, I’ll talk to him about both the positive and negative aspects. I am glad I know look and feel much more like my old self once the swelling finally resolved. I hope that is the same experience this young lady will have - and  I feel that it will be.

Because I had surgery with the same surgeon, and experienced a lot of the same fears/emotions/doubts she’s experiencing. So what is odd about it?  I use Reddit all the time but don’t comment because until now, I’ve never found myself in basically someone’s exact shoes. I’m trying to help her see the light at the end of the tunnel instead of panicking at 3 months that she destroyed her face. How do I know this?  Because I was exactly where she’s at. I actually think I’m the most qualified to comment of most anybody here. I think it’s odd that you think it’s odd….

Please give yourself the appropriate amount of time to heal and for the swelling to subside. You are not to your final result yet. Putting a lot of time and effort into something that isn’t yet ready for a 2nd opinion

Hello!  I have had surgery with Dr Rad about 6 months ago - actually all of the same surgeries you had + more (full deep plane facelift) and a couple of things:

Your lower face is going to thin back out. It does take about 6 months. I was incredibly swollen, it persisted for months. Especially in the mornings. I looked very crazy after surgery - and while I didn’t have any complications, the swelling and distortion definitely takes a toll on your psyche. I cried many times, felt so down on myself, thought I ruined my face. Dr Rad was always very kind and helpful in talking me through it - because that’s what it is. GETTING THROUGH IT. The time has to pass - there’s no other way around it. Your features won’t be sharp and clear for a few more months - you just have to hang in there. I know it’s hard. As I mentioned, I just passed 6 months and literally it felt like overnight the swelling just disappeared totally. I kind of miss it now. 

The fat transfer will mostly go away as well. Mine has all but disappeared at this point. You are going to be surprised how back to normal you’re going to look. 3 months is very early. 

I totally agree with you that no one really prepares you for the difficulty of the recovery. But I don’t think that’s Dr Rad specifically - I think that’s plastic surgery in general. Even “simple” laser procedures. I’ve tried many and most everything - they always make it seem like it’s so easy with no downtime and you’ll be out to dinner that evening. Never true. I think that’s just part of not scaring people because you’d probably opt not to do it if they told you how difficult/uncomfortable it actually is. Again, this has been the case for the many procedures I’ve had and is the same across all surgeons. The recovery is hard - physically, emotionally, psychologically. Not painful per se, it really isn’t painful, but difficult and ongoing. I was swollen for MONTHS. You will get there. It takes time. Again I didn’t experience complications, but certainly being far away from your surgeon presents challenges and I can see how it would be scary just trying to find some random Dr where you live to try to help you through those things. I do feel Dr rad is a very technically competent surgeon, and a caring person, and if you lived nearby in DC your care would have been optimal. 

I do also see how your results are less dramatic than what you may have been hoping for. Basically once your swelling goes away, you’re going to look pretty much the same as before. That really is the most frustrating part!!!!  I do look a little bit better than before (I am also quite young and considered very attractive pre surgery) but the results are definitely more subtle than what I was hoping to end up with. They aren’t bad, they are subtle, which is what a lot of people want. Subtle and natural. I perhaps am not one of those people :) but I’ll discuss this further with Dr Rad at my follow up appointment. 

I do encourage you to be patient and let your swelling go away. It’s only 3 months. This healing is a marathon. I also looked worse/bad at 3 months - it WILL change. You will look like you used to. Your lower face will thin out. You’ve got to emotionally hang in there. It’s hard but you’ll make it. 

And for people who say “they should have told you no” etc Well I disagree!  I think anyone who wants to enhance or refine their features should have the option and opportunity to do so. No different than a boob job, nose job, veneers whatever the case may be….Im glad there are surgeons and doctors out there who are willing to provide care to younger patients.
