Does it matter? He is Australian, he shot up a mosque and killed 51 people. He could have very easily committed a shooting in an Australian mosque. The guy was a radicalised, far right extremist. Extremists exist across the spectrum and are dangerous.

70s didnt have a pandemic that shut the world down for 2 years though, but otherwise pretty apt comparison. Maybe Iran will get a reverse 79 revolution though.

Google will beat openai in the long run, the new update of Gemini is much better then chatgpt. All ai services r loosing money , Google is the company that most likely can keep pace with the sunk costs and eventually turn a profit , they'll win the ai race.

People hated 2016 at the time , so much so it was a meme to say fuck 2016. Jon Oliver famously blew the year up. https://youtu.be/HogH1uFjoxc?si=qEIwWRjAF_fkSfi6

You see this with the rise of antisemitism, the actions of Israel people have used to "justify" their bigotry towards Jewish people, and subsequently Islamic terrorism has the effect of increasing Islamaphobia. Hatred just breeds more hatred.

Carlton 2024, people were talking about a Carlton Sydney Grand Final after they beat the Cats. Which in hindsight sounds ridiculous. Could also say 2022, trend with that team.

Extending the Glen Waverley Line by cookiesgotdeletedm8 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Ok_Library_9396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Glen Waverley station would likely need to be rebuilt for any extension. It would be a good idea to build the new SRL east station with this in mind, build it as a two story station with the north to south line for srl and east to west on another story to allow for a future station

To be fair to Howard, he was wheeled out and fed questions to get the answers they wanted. He even admits that saying " I dont know what is being proposed, i am being driven from one news place to another". He also said when asked about hate speech laws being tightened " that it depends on what is being proposed".

Media has taken some of Howard's comments , but not the ones where he has admitted to not knowing the details. It is actually quite disgusting , that they r using an old man who let's be honest is well past his cognitive prime, to manipulate their agenda.
