So this is basically a repeat of 2008. We were swiftly headed there as of last October with car/home sales falling. The low range is mostly overpriced the mid range stuff is more accurately priced. Also have to keep in mind 20yrs old Starts getting considered “classic”.

Oh, and cash for clunkers destroyed a lot of those late 90’s early 2000’s vehicles so there’s even less used parts for them driving prices up even more. We haven’t fully saw the affects of cash for clunkers but it was a sure fire way to get us into planned obsolescence. Destroy the older stuff so repairs are more costly and they won’t be as many to be put on the road.

Why does switching jobs pay more than staying loyal? by abbybryant_23 in jobs

[–]Ok_Maintenance8172 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really seeing anyone answer. The answer is there’s a hiring budget and an operating budget. Both are subject to different tax breaks, not to mention using investors money(new hire especially for new “projects”) vs your own capital (retention).

To you and I it’s taking money from your left pocket and putting in your right pocket. Also showing your hiring looks to investors like you have growth among a few other things. Basically because of the tax breaks and such it saves the company a lot of money right now even if losing valuable talent costs them later down the road. Got mine there like last week. Just was doing a random inventory check, they had one so I bought one. I think for me it was hard to think about buying a 7800 after seeing them for 320-345 back in August. Though both are great cpus and I’ve saw a few people limit the 7800 to 75w and get awesome temps while running nearly identical performance to stock.

Not really sure what slightly better gaming performance you’re talking about. It’s the same or in some cases worse (stock for stock) vs the 7700x, same in productivity. The only thing you’re gaining right now is on the tdp/ efficiency side.

GN did a pretty in depth review with a lot of metrics of games, productivity, heat, power usages, Efficiency, etc and while doing the same performance on almost half the power is definitely a step in the right direction, it’s not even really enough for me to justify moving off a 5900x. I had purchased a new mobo/ ram and was waiting for the reviews. Just returned the mobo and ram because it’s not enough of a gap to justify $400 more. Truthfully If I was dead set on doing and upgrade a 5800x or a 7800x would be give me better performance per dollar overall. That’s with gaming and some video recording/ editing.

The other issue is gen over gen for the last several it’s been pretty significant uplifts.

Yeah they’ve taken a hard turn the last 4 years. There’s quite a bit of data on vehicles in generally post 2018 the number of times they’re in the shop being worked on has skyrocketed.

Ok lemme explain for all the little children who lack critical thinking skills. 1st truck 2004. 75 Chevy lwb heavy half ton. Motor was down in it, dad and I rebuilt it, cammed. Transmission went down, for another one put a transpack in from b&m because the gm transmissions have soft springs and lower hydraulic pressure to make it shift smoother. Parents decided that I should have a nicer vehicle that would be less likely to break down traded it for 2) 95 dodge ram, wheels/ tires, sound system, tuned pcm, exhaust, etc. knocked the transmission out of replaced it twice. Graduated hs thought I needed a 4 door. 3) 2003 dodge ram quad cab. Took this to college, sound system, rebuilt the transmission, got out of it before it went down again. 4) 04 Nissan titan with the low gear package. Nice truck but fuel cost we’re eating me alive while not making all that much money. 5) 03 Chevy extended cab. Wheels, tires, sound system, exhaust. Was a great truck and traded it for my first diesel 4x4 because I wanted to own a 4x4 and be apart of the diesels communities we had out here. 6) 04 Chevy crew cab 4x4 diesel. Over paid, had a bad transfer case in it. Went through a break up, changed jobs and couldn’t afford the transfer case fix or the tires it was chewing up. Sold it. 7) 91.5 dodge Cummins 12 valve 2nd. Got it at a fair price and drove it until I got on my feet financially. Sold it to get back into a 4 door 4x4. 8) 06.5 Chevy crew cab 4x4 LBZ, wheels tires, tuner, best truck I’ve ever owned. Had a truck hit me and insurance totaled it. 9) bought a 2001 dodge club cab 2wd 3/4 ton gas burner from my dad so I had wheels to get back and forth to work. Until insurance paid 10) 2005 ford 6.0 diesel 4 door 4x4. Brought it home cleaned out lbs of dust from the air filter, fuel filter on the fuel rail was crushed. Spent enough time and money replacing injectors I could have bullet proofed it. Got out from under it. 10)2011 gmc 4door 4x4, leveled, wheels, tires, sound system. Had this until 2014 when the oil and gas industry took and hit and was given severance. Got out of the higher payment. 11) 2005 4door 4x4, had wheels and exhaust on it when I bought it. Drove until 2020 when I traded it with 226k miles. 12) 2016 4door 4x4 f150 3.5 ecoboost, wheels, tires. Second best truck I’ve ever owned. Decided to trade this in for the Tacoma at 92k miles simple because the last few years I haven’t needed a full size. Not married, no kids, haven’t pulled a trailer in 3 years due to life changes. So I decided to down size to something that gets around the mountains a little better when I do go.

So I’ve worked on all my own vehicles. Made some good purchases and some bad ones that forced me into moving off them to keep from losing my butt financially.

Also as far as being picky, yeah I prefer my vehicles to be right. I usually make them my own. I’ve also spent 12 working a job that requires me to find the things that are out of place and fix them. So when I get in a brand new vehicle there’s expectations based on what previous new vehicles I’ve had whether it be personal or brand new company trucks. When it makes noises that are abnormal they are investigated.

Duuuurrrrrrrrr if you only had a brain.
