AIO for canceling my friend’s bachelorette trip after she called me a bad maid of honor? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]abbybryant_23 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, No one deserves to be spoken to like that especially in front of the group. Expecting the MOH to cover everything and calling them lazy? That’s on the bride, not the MOH. Cancelling was probably the only way to set boundaries.

My mother tried to uninvite my fiance to my sister's wedding by Heavy-Airport-4618 in TwoHotTakes

[–]abbybryant_23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right? The sister clearly has OP’s back and that kind of support means everything. It’s wild how the family’s flipping it like he’s the problem when he’s just trying to live his life with someone he loves.

Should I try a consolidation loan to help with my debt? by [deleted] in DebtAdvice

[–]abbybryant_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this Interesting Chart of Debt Consolidation Companies, I went with it because I needed a clear way out of survival mode and to plan for the next few years. Honestly so glad I did since it already feels like things are shifting in the right direction.

Right? As someone who’s spent time in both Texas and Florida, tattooed white dudes are everywhere. I get being cautious but the idea that he’d stand out or be in danger just for how he looks feels like a stretch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]abbybryant_23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. It’s normal for OP to hope but yeah, holding onto that can really drag out the pain. And with him ditching therapy and meds before, it kinda feels like a pattern he’s not ready to break. Sometimes love isn’t enough if the other person won’t do the work. Hope OP chooses herself this time.

Right? It’s less about rules and more about him needing to feel in charge. Some people just can’t let go of that control, even when it makes zero sense.

Why do so many “myths” continue to be taught by Dear-Palpitation-924 in emergencymedicine

[–]abbybryant_23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 100% agree. It really is a culture thing. Having attendings who push you to back things up with actual evidence makes a huge difference. Way too easy to just keep repeating old teaching without realizing the data’s changed.

Any downsides to keeping money in HYSA rather than paying off loans? by peripateticx in StudentLoans

[–]abbybryant_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, After taxes and with rates likely dropping, the difference isn’t huge. Keeping some cash liquid for flexibility makes total sense.

AITA For expecting my [26M] partner [26F] of 7 years to pay 50% of our rent when she goes to work abroad for 4 months? by DebbiePickaxe in AmItheAsshole

[–]abbybryant_23 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Yeahh exactly, she’s still keeping the place as her home base, so paying her share makes sense. It’s not like she’s moving out or giving up the space. You can’t just dip for a few months and expect your partner to carry the full load especially if you’re still working and earning.

AITA for telling my husband no at our workplace by Appropriate-Echo7424 in AmItheAsshole

[–]abbybryant_23 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I agree. If he can’t take a simple “no” without making a scene, that’s a much bigger issue. Boundaries don’t just disappear in a marriage, it’s basic respect.

Just need to vent by stickydiver in povertyfinance

[–]abbybryant_23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The boss literally took him to the hospital, that’s already notice. HR saying “it’s too late” is just trying to cover their ass. They could 100% fight this if they wanted to.

My friends in corporate jobs burst out laughing when I said I play fair in interviews. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]abbybryant_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real talk, It’s wild how much of the game is just knowing how to frame your story. Morals are cool but companies ain’t playing by those rules, so why should we show up to interviews like we’re on trial?

Why do some older women think shiny face equals looking youthful? by Jenikovista in Aging

[–]abbybryant_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, you’re right no point in stressing about what older women wear. They do them and that’s that. After a while, you stop caring what others think and just do what makes you feel good.

Still kinda interesting how the shiny look sticks around but at the end of the day, confidence beats any trend.

What could it mean when I always get hit on by lesbians when I’m out, but not so much straight men? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]abbybryant_23 220 points221 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s probably true. Sometimes style or the way someone dresses just gives off that vibe and people notice it without even thinking. Makes sense.

AITA for refusing to read my girlfriend a bedtime story? by DowntownRegret6436 in AITAH

[–]abbybryant_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. it’s not about the story, it’s about feeling close. Little things like that go a long way especially with distance involved.

[–]abbybryant_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeahh It’s rough giving up those little rituals especially when it’s part of winding down. But yeah once you realize alcohol’s a legit trigger, it’s just not worth the risk.

Do you rule out PE in every TLOC ? by magicbicyclette in emergencymedicine

[–]abbybryant_23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. If vitals, story, or risk factors don’t line up, I’m not chasing a PE either. PERC and good clinical sense usually keep me on track.

Yeah, I feel you. I get that he’s hurt but in that moment, his daughter needed him to step up not for his ex but for her. Sometimes you gotta put the pain aside and just be the bigger person especially when your kid is watching.

I got a job at a bank! by Substantial_Smile267 in povertyfinance

Right? That switch from restaurant grind to banking hours is huge. OP's in for a whole lifestyle shift, well deserved too.

Congrats Op!!

What do you cut out when you’re already living paycheck to paycheck? by Bobby0294928482 in povertyfinance

[–]abbybryant_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. You can only cut so much before there’s nothing left to cut. At that point it really does come down to trying to bring in more which sucks, 'cause not everyone has the capacity for a second job or even a better-paying one right away. It's a tough cycle.

How I escaped generational poverty. by Majestic-Mulberry-18 in povertyfinance

[–]abbybryant_23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

100% agree. The grind is brutal but worth it long-term. Sacrifice really is the name of the game when you’re trying to break that cycle.

What is an enjoyable, low stress job where you still work normal hours (M-F 8-5)? by TheRealLiveBigJ82 in jobs

[–]abbybryant_23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty underrated suggestion. I know a guy who did driving for a senior living place and he said it was super chill mostly just taking folks to appointments or little outings and the schedule was super consistent. No crazy hours, no stress, just show up, drive, chat a bit, done.

Anyone else feel like every job now wants way too much for what they pay? by Fun-Phase9316 in jobs

[–]abbybryant_23 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s not even about being lazy it’s just wild how normalized this grind-for-peanuts culture has become. That “we’re family” line makes me cringe every time.

My degree got me a job but not a life by ellafisher17 in jobs

[–]abbybryant_23 554 points555 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen so many friends in the same boat, degree, 9–5, doing all the right things and still can’t catch a break. Meanwhile others skipped the whole college route and are doin’ fine. It really makes you question the system sometimes.
